FULFILLING YOUR DESTINY - 7 LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF JOSHUA

**********************************************************************

1.LABOUR

Joshua was called Moses' minister. Before God called him to succeed Moses and become the leader of Israel , Joshua was faithful in his responsibility as a helper to Moses. He loved his leader Moses and was faithful and loyal in his work. God rewarded his faithfulness in small things by putting him in charge of great things. We must be faithful in small things before God can trust us with great responsibilities.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

Joshua 1;1

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying:

2.LOSS

The death of Moses was a big loss to the people of Israel. They had depended on Moses for everything in their lives. Now they appeared to be stranded in the wilderness with no hope for their future.Even in our lives we may face a similar situation. The people on whom we had depended the most may be taken away from us.A devastating loss can occur to any of us.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

Joshua 1;2

“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.

3.LORD

In this situation of loss and confusion and hopelessness the voice of the Lord comes to Joshua. The Lord was in control. Moses was gone but the Lord was still there. Even in our lives when everything seems lost we must realize that the Lord is still in charge. Just as He intervened in the lives of the Israelites in the wilderness He will intervene even in our lives and take charge of the situation.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

Joshua 1;1

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying:

4.LAND

The Lord spoke to Joshua and reminded him of His promise to the people of Israel to given them the land of canaan. The people of Israel may have wondered if they were ever going to inherit the promised land especially since Moses was no longer there. But God reminded them that His promise never changes. He was still committed to taking them to the promised land. Even in our lives when situations appear hopeless and confused we lose heart and think the promises of God are not going to be fulfilled. But we must realise that God is faithful to his promises. Even though the situation appears impossible God is still able to fulfill his promises.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

Joshua 1 : 2 - 4

“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.

Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.

From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory.

5.LEAGUE

The Lord promised Joshua that He will be with Him just as he was with Moses.Joshua was not alone. But he was a partner with God. When we are linked with the almighty God victory is assured. We will not drown in the storm if the Lord is with us in the boat. We must always live with this realisation that we are in league with God and we form an unbeatable team.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

Joshua 1: 5

No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.

6.LAW

The Lord reminded Joshua to be careful to observe all the laws that He had given them through Moses. The Kingdom of God is governed by laws. Just as we have the laws of nature we have laws in the spiritual world. Laws do not have partiality. The Law of gravity will work for everybody. If a person jumps of a high building he will surely fall to the ground. It does not matter whether he is old or young, rich or poor, educated or illiterate. The law is the same for everyone. In the same way the spiritual laws that God has established will work for everyone and no one can escape the penalty if they disobey these laws. The Lord told Joshua to be careful to obey these laws in order to experience success and prosperity in his life and ministry.
