Summary: For every Divine plan, there is Divine purpose.

FULFILLING DESTINY ACCORDING TO GOD'S PLAN AND PURPOSE 2

TEXT: ISAIAH 55:10-11, ISAIAH 14:26-27, 3 JOHN 2

As we pursue to fulfill our destinies this year, let us bear in mind that we must consider God and His plan for us. God is eternal and so is His plan. The plan was established in eternity past before the creation of heaven and earth - Eph 1:4, John 17:24. Last week, we understood that for every God's plan, there is a divine purpose.

1) GOD'S PLAN IS A MYSTERY: Eph 3:1-12, 1 Cor 3:6-8

The plan of God is a mystery because it is the product of the divine mind of God and not finite mind of man- Job 11:7, Daniel 2:28, ROM 16:25. It is mystery which the fallen man cannot fathom apart from the illumination of the Holy Spirit- Isaiah 55:6-9.

2) GOD'S PLAN IS PROGRESSIVELY BEING REVEALED: 1 Cor 13:9-12, Deut 29:29

It is certain that God's plan is perfect, complete and as good as done from His perspective but from man's point of view and understanding, the plan is being unfolded progressively and even partially revealed. God remains the revealer and we can only walk with God daily. He is the good Shepherd- Psalm 23.

3) THE GOAL OF GOD'S PLAN : Numbers 14:21,Isaiah 48:11

The goal of His plan is to bring glory to Himself - Rev 4:11. To the Christians, the glory of God is our hope- Rom 5:2. This means that the glory of God is for the good and praise of the Christian believers: Romans 8:28.

4) GOD'S ULTIMATE PLAN

For the earth - Gen 1:1, the earth was created for the good of man. To inhabit, rejoice and prosper in it. Psalm 115:16

For man- man to be the governor of the earth. The overseer of the earth and the caretaker of the creatures- Gen 1:26,28, 1 Tim 2:4, John 5:34

For the Church- The bride of Christ, ambassadors of God and the eternal rulers with Christ: Matt 16:18-19, Matt 27:51, Matt 28:18-19, Rev 21:2-4,7, Zech 8:8.

5) THE WILL OF GOD

The will of God involves majorly three aspects:

I) God's sovereign will: God's sovereign will is revealed in His unchangeable decrees- Gen 1:3, Eph 1:3-6, Rom 11:1-2. This is eternal and fore ordained.

ii) God's revealed will: God's revealed will is contained in His precepts, given to us that we may walk in Holiness. God has chosen to reveal this to us through the Bible. Although man can break this will of God but it has negative consequences- Micah 6:8, Eph 4:15, Acts 3:19, Eph 5:18

iii) Permissive will of God: 1 Sam 8, Job 2:4-6, Judges 16:26-31

There are some cases or events of life that God can permit in our lives. They may not necessarily be God's perfect will but we chose otherwise. We should know that we have to also face the consequences if they arise.

CONCLUSION

Fulfilment in life means to run and end well with God's plan. The expectation of God towards our relationship with Him is to follow Him daily, he is not regimental and we should not be rigid in our walk with him. God does not change but He decides to relate with man through many forms. The scripture didn't condemn planning- Prov 31:10-22, Luke 22:35-38 rather God's plan should shape our plans
