Summary: We must have patience and wait on the Lord.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT PATIENCE

Galatians 5: 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

1. When temped

1st Corinthians 10: 13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

God knows how much we can bear.

He will not allow you to go beyond that.

He will give you strength needed to overcome.

2. Result of temptation.

James 1: 2My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Its not sin until you yield to it.

3. Release from temptation.

2nd Peter 2: 9The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

As we live Godly lives he will free us.

He can and will deliver the Godly.

4. There are rewards.

James 1; 12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Rewards on earth and in Heaven

2. Patient in troubles

1b. Attitude

Romans 12: 12Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Its hard to go through tribulation God doesn’t always deliver from trouble he helps us go through it. Patience shows stability.

2b.Affect.

Hebrews 10: 36For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

3b.Answer.

Psalms 40: 1(To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

The psalmist waits patiently on the Lord.

He was in no hurry.

4b.Isaiah tells the value of waiting.

Isaiah 40: 31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

3. Be patient in trials.

James 1: 4But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

We must let her have her perfect work.

Dependence on God allows him to have his way.

1a.Waiting in patience.

James 5: 7Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Its God’s time table. All trials will end when he shall appear.

Psalms 37: 7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
