Summary: When He saved us, Jesus lifted us up out of the mire, and placed us in the Choir!

brought me out of the mire and into the choir!

Psalms 40:2 - 3

As we look here in Psalms 40, I want to share with you how that God brought us out of the mire and placed us into the choir. I want to share with you two points from these verses this morning. First of all I want you to notice:

I. The Comparison of Sin to the Miry clay.

We find here first of all that the Bible compares sin to the miry clay. Psalms 69:2, 69:14. Miry clay is like a thick mud, likened unto quicksand.

* Every one of us have been stuck in the quicksand of sin

* Three ways I believe that mire resembles sin

a. The more you struggle to pull yourself out, the further you sink

b. The mire will eventually pull you to the bottom

c. The only way out is for someone to pull you out

II. The Choir of the Saints

Now look he brought me up! I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore, very deeply stained within sinking to rise no more, but the master of the sea heard my despairing cry, from the water lifted me now safe am I!

a. He set me up

Jesus is our Solid rock -

Psalm 89:26, Psalm 92:15, Psalm 94:22, Psalm 95:1

A Sturdy foundation

a. For faith

b. For family

c. For the fellowship

b. He keeps me up

If we were all honest this morning, there have been times in our lives as Christians we have thought about giving up, slowing down, throwing my hands up, but Jesus keeps me going!

He established me!

a. He founded me with Faith - Acts 16:5

b. He grounded me with Grace - Hebrews 13:9

c. He settled me with his scripture - 2 Peter 1:12

c. He tunes me up

Psalm 96:1, Psalm 98:1, Psalm 144:9

a. Now I am Singing Songs of praise

b. Soon I will be Singing in a Heavenly place!

Revelation 5:9
