From The Grave HE Arose

John 20: 19-31

19Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

20And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD.

21Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

22And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

23Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

24But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

25The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

26And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

27Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

28And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God.

29Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Last week we celebrated Easter Sunday! Many people have tried to discredit or change the Easter Sunday Celebration. Some say it is a Pagan Holiday or Celebration. Some say that it is just another commercial holiday that the stores and companies have commercialized for their benefit. I don’t know that what they say isn’t true but I believe that if you go back to the basis for the holiday that it is just like Christmas and there is a great reason for the holiday and the celebration.

First off it is, just like Christmas, in that it is a celebration of JESUS the SON OF GOD! At Christmas time we celebrate the birth of GOD’S only begotten SON, at Easter we celebrate the death and resurrection of GOD’S only begotten SON. And it is through these celebrations that we honor GOD and HIS great plan for our salvation.

At Christmas we celebrate the fact, I want to use that word again, FACT, not fiction, that JESUS was the SON of GOD and a Part of the HOLY TRINITY of FATHER, SON, and HOLY GHOST, and HE was born of a woman. This means that HE dwelled in her womb for nine months just as every other person, or child in the world has done. He was born through the labor pains of HIS mother, just like every other baby ever born. HE was flesh and blood just like all the other babies and HE was dependent upon HIS Mother to feed and cloth HIM just like all the other babies. HE grew up and learned many things just like everybody else in the world but there was and still is one major difference between HIM and all the rest of the world. HE was as the bible says Emmanuel or GOD with Us as it says in Matthew 1: 23

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us

This then was the difference between JESUS and all other men anywhere that was born, HE and HE alone was GOD! And so at Christmas we celebrate the birth of GOD THE SON!

Just so at Easter we celebrate the death and resurrection of GOD THE SON!

We celebrate because just like every person ever born JESUS THE SON OF GOD died. Yes HE died a most painful and agonizing death on the cross but make no doubt of the fact, there’s that word I like again, FACT that JESUS died on the cross. Some religions and some people will try to tell you that HE did not die on that cross but I want to show you something look at Mark 15: 42-45
