Summary: A message given on "Suffering Church Sunday"

1. Write to embassies, and directly to world leaders when called upon to do so.

2. We should sign up to petitions, such as BF’s “Right to Justice” campaign.

3. Paul used his rights as a Roman citizen when occasion called for it – Acts 16 – and we should use our rights as UK citizens to call upon our gov’t to use its influence in persecuting states.

C. Praise – 1 Timothy 2:1-3

1. Thank God for our freedoms.

2. God that He is still on the Throne, that He is all knowing, and that in Christ He has experienced our sufferings,, including persecution.

Conclusion: In a few moments we will view the true stories of some of those who have experienced persecution beginning with the Pastor Florescu and his son, Alexander of Romania. Their story was one I read as a young believer in Richard Wurmbrand’s book, “Tortured for Christ”. We show you these stories, because they need to be told, but be aware, the stories you are about to see are not only a reflection of the world’s hatred for Christ, but also a reflection of these believer’s commitment and love for Jesus. When we compare our commitment with theirs, I think you will agree, that what we often count as a sacrifice is but an inconvenience, and what we call service falls far short of their standard.
