The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise, preemptive military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service upon the United States (a neutral country at the time) against the naval base at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, just before 08:00, on Sunday morning, December 7, 1941.
Ninety minutes after it began, the attack was over. 2,008 sailors were killed, and 710 others wounded; 218 soldiers and airmen (who were part of the Army prior to the independent United States Air Force in 1947) were killed and 364 wounded; 109 marines were killed and 69 wounded; and 68 civilians were killed and 35 wounded. In total, 2,403 Americans were killed and 1,143 were wounded.[91] Eighteen ships were sunk or run aground, including five battleships.[10][92] All of the Americans killed or wounded during the attack were non-combatants, given the fact there was no state of war when the attack occurred.
There are attacks from hell that will shock you and leave you paralyzed, breathless and lifeless. Leaving you with questions and if not careful will absolutely await your surrender. Listen to me tonight God never said the weapons wouldn’t form He said that the weapons wouldn’t prosper.
What I am about to preach tonight is a transparent heartfelt broken burdened sermon, my life, my heart, my thoughts are in this sermon because without it, it would be just a good message, see God allows things in life to help the Christian grow, trust and hold on to Him, and tonight their might be someone here that is either going through a really rough time in their lives and you need to hear this. God is going to help you, He is faithful, just and true, and also a good Father.
1st Point “They came out of left field, just like Pearl Harbor”
Job 1:8-21
8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you [a]considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and [b]shuns evil?”
9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not [c]made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse[d] You to Your face!”
12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your [e]power; only do not lay a hand on his person.”
So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
13 Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house; 14 and a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them, 15 when the [f]Sabeans [g]raided them and took them away—indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and [h]consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, 19 and suddenly a great wind came from [i]across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said:
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
And naked shall I return there.
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;
Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
Here is a very troubling situation, all is lost, attacks are coming from every angle, life has taken its toll, the stress, agony, the despair, pain beyond measure, no one can understand the immense turmoil that is going on in Job’s mind and his family, to some of us this is foreign, we have no idea in our western minds what it means to lose everything like this. Attack after attack, when will it stop, this is too much, what in the world is going on here? I found out first-hand, listen to me, everyone at one time or another is going to feel like Job, I know I have.
