INTRODUCTION:

Curses represent limitations, setbacks, and patterns of failure that hinder a person’s destiny. From the beginning, sin brought humanity under a curse, but God’s desire has always been to bless His people and make them fruitful. The blessings of the Lord are not earned by human effort but received through faith in Jesus Christ, who broke the power of the curse on the cross.

Throughout Scripture, we see how curses caused barrenness, poverty, premature death, and destruction. Yet, God always provided a way for His people to transition from bondage to freedom, from sorrow to joy, and from curses to blessings.

In Christ Jesus, every believer has been delivered from the curse of the law. This means that sickness, failure, poverty, and demonic oppression no longer have authority over us. God’s desire is to transform every area of our lives into testimonies of His goodness. Today, you can step into a new realm of blessings and divine favour.

1. UNDERSTANDING CURSES AND BLESSINGS

Before you can walk in blessings, you must understand the reality of curses and God’s desire to bless.

a) Definition of curses (Deuteronomy 28:15): A curse is a negative spiritual force that brings hardship, loss, and stagnation.

b) Definition of blessings (Proverbs 10:22): A blessing is divine empowerment to prosper, excel, and flourish.

c) Curses are the result of disobedience and sin (Deuteronomy 28:45): Disobedience opens the door for affliction and oppression.

d) God’s original intention for man is blessing (Genesis 1:28): From creation, God’s will was for mankind to live under His blessings.

Biblical Example: Israel experienced both blessings and curses depending on their obedience to God’s covenant (Deuteronomy 28).

2. CHRIST REDEEMED US FROM EVERY CURSE

Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross permanently broke the power of curses over our lives.

a) Jesus became a curse for us (Galatians 3:13): His death on the cross paid the price for our redemption.

b) The blessing of Abraham is now ours through faith (Galatians 3:14): We are heirs of God’s promises.

c) No curse or enchantment can prevail against God’s children (Numbers 23:23): Christ’s victory ensures our deliverance.

d) Redemption gives us authority over every form of oppression (Luke 10:19): We can now walk in freedom and power.

Biblical Example: Balak hired Balaam to curse Israel, but God turned the curse into a blessing (Numbers 23:20).

3. WALKING IN THE BLESSINGS OF GOD

Blessings require faith, obedience, and alignment with God’s Word.

a) Obedience attracts blessings (Deuteronomy 28:1-2): God rewards those who diligently follow His commands.

b) Faith is the currency to access blessings (Hebrews 11:6): Without faith, it is impossible to please God.

c) Living a righteous life preserves blessings (Psalm 5:12): The Lord surrounds the righteous with favour.

d) Speaking blessings releases divine favour (Proverbs 18:21): Your words can open or close doors of blessings.

Biblical Example: Abraham obeyed God and became a channel of blessings for generations (Genesis 22:16-18).

4. MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE FROM CURSES

Deliverance is maintained by consistent spiritual discipline and faith in God’s promises.

a) Stay rooted in God’s Word (Joshua 1:8): Regular study of Scripture strengthens your spirit.

b) Live a life of holiness and repentance (1 Peter 1:16): Avoiding sin closes the door to curses.

c) Engage in prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21): Persistent prayer keeps you spiritually alert.

d) Surround yourself with a community of faith (Hebrews 10:25): Fellowship strengthens and protects you.

Biblical Example: King Hezekiah destroyed idols and cleansed Judah to maintain God’s blessings (2 Chronicles 31:20-21).

5. BECOMING A CHANNEL OF BLESSINGS TO OTHERS

God blesses you so that you can bless others and advance His kingdom.

a) Bless others with your resources (2 Corinthians 9:8): God gives abundance for generosity.

b) Share your testimony to inspire faith (Revelation 12:11): Your story can lead others into blessings.

c) Use your influence for God’s glory (Matthew 5:16): Let your light shine before men.

d) Pray for others to experience God’s blessings (Job 42:10): Job’s restoration came as he prayed for his friends.

Biblical Example: Joseph became a blessing to Egypt and his family because he honoured God (Genesis 50:20).

CONCLUSION:

God’s desire is for His children to live in blessings and not under curses. Through Christ, every curse has been broken, and the blessings of Abraham have been released over your life. You are no longer bound by generational patterns or negative cycles, the cross has changed your story.
