Summary: We need the Fresh Bread form the word of God.

Fresh Bread

Text: Matthew 4:4

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4 NKJV)

Intro:

No one likes to eat stale bread. When you make that sandwich you like for the bread to be fresh. There is nothing like smelling that fresh bread when it is baking. The aroma is so good it makes you hungry, even if you have already eaten. Jesus said I am the bread of life. He has bread that will sustain us forever. You eat this bread and you will never go hungry again.

John 6:27

Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” (John 6:27 NKJV)

The Bread Is The Word

John 6:33

For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” (John 6:33 NKJV)

The text is when Jesus was in the wilderness being tempted by Satan. Satan wanted Him to turn the stones into bread. Jesus said the we don’t live by bread alone but every word that comes from the father. The word is the bread that sustains us. We live by the word of God. It is the word that comforts us, keeps us, and completes us. Not in a physical sense but spiritually.

Jesus is the word made flesh.

John:1:14

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14 NKJV)

Jesus is the spiritual bread sent form the father to fill us so that we will never hunger.

The Bread Draws You To It

In that bakery you smell that fresh bread and it just draws you to it. It makes you want it. The word is no different. I draws you to it and makes you want it. The Spirit draws us to Him so that we can receive everlasting life.

John 6:44

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:44 NKJV)

If you get in the word IT will draw you closer to the Father.

The Bread Sustains Us

John 6:48-51

I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” (John 6:48-51 NKJV)

When you eat that bread form that bakery, it is good, but in a little while you will be hungry again. Spiritually speaking, when you fill your life with other things, you are not full, and you are still hungry. We need to fill our lives with the Bread of Life which is the word of God.

Conclusion:

We need to fill ourselves with the Word. So many time we fill our lives with other things, and we feel empty. We are hungry for something. The thing that we are hungry for is the word (BREAD OF LIFE) We need to fill ourselves with the word of God, so that we will be filled and live forever.

John 6:58

This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.” (John 6:58 NKJV)
