Freedom Requires Vigilance

Summary: Never drop your guard or you will be enslaved.
Psa 119:45 And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” - Edmund Burke
“The truth is that if Israel were to put down its arms there would be no more Israel. If the Arabs were to put down their arms there would be no more war.” - Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
"The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt." John Philpot Curran
1 Peter 5:8-9
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. KJV
Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. KJV
As it is in in the carnal aspects of life so it is in the spiritual part. We must remain vigilant and not let down our guard. Evil men controlled by the Evil One will always seek to enslave men body and soul. If we do not value our freedom, we shall lose it.
We celebrate July 4th for it represents the birth of the freest nation known to man with the possible exception of Israel under David and Solomon. Indeed, we were a bold experiment that succeeded beyond comprehension. There was no reason at all for us to win our independence against so great an adversary. It was a military and political miracle.
Our forefathers knew it was a miracle and they established the nation and its laws upon the Word of God and entered into a covenant with Him desiring His providence. As long as we walked as a nation honoring God and seeking His will we prospered. WWII made us proud and we fell into self-sufficiency and greed. We trusted more in our achievements than Him. As we removed Him from our schools, our laws and even our churches we started on our journey to collapse and servitude as Mr. Curran stated.
As Mr. Netanyahu said, it is not a matter of if we want peace. It is a matter of if our enemies want peace. Physical enemies come and go and at times enemies become friends when friends become foes hence the need for vigilance so we are not blindsided. Spiritually, our enemy is forever for he does not desire anything but complete destruction. We need to be as vigilant as a point man in the jungles of Nam or the streets of Kabul. There is no relaxation. To relax is to be hit and taken out of the battle. Fortunately, Christ won the war, but we are to fight on until the Commander-in-Chief arrives to put down the resistance for good.
While no one, but our enemies, hopes for America to fall and Americans to be subjugated if that should ever happen it would be imperative that we are walking in spiritual victory. Paul was as free in Christ in jail as he was when he was not in jail. David said he could walk in liberty because he sought God's precepts. While we are still the land of the free, may we pray for revival so that we can remain free. Revival starts in each heart. May we follow in the faith of our ancestors for then we shall not only have their virtues, but also their freedom. Maranatha!
Apr 28 1992 STAND FAST
When life gets bizarre and you're feeling mighty tense.
Remember Grace is God's Rices At Christ's Expense.
When temptations abound and you are weak in the knees,
Take hold of the promises and stand fast in your liberties.
Times can get tough and into sin you may fall.
Confess it and rejoice that you are free from the law.
Burdens may get heavy and you will not feel very blest.
Take His yoke upon you and in Him learn to rest.
When Satan laughs in your face and you want him to flee,
Plant your feet on the Rock and shout, "Christ liveth in me!"
Take the offensive! Use the Sword and the Shield!
Put on the full armor of God and never, never yield!
Some preach Christ in truth and others to cause strife.
Some just like to play God in your life!
Ignore the doctrines of men, no matter what their degree!
Gird on the Truth, for it has made you free!
