John 3 :16
Topic: The Four Interesting Things of John 3:16
John 3:16 is the most famous verse in the whole entire bible. Many children as well as adults have memorized this verse in Sunday School or in Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. Even people who don't even go to church or not saved are able to recite John 3:16. But reciting and memorizing John 3:16 is good, but it will not save you. You must believe word for word what John 3:16 says to be saved.
What does John 3:16 say?
John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Now this morning, I want to share with you at least four interesting things that John 3:16 teaches us.
1. The first thing that John 3:16 teaches us is God's love for it says, "For God so loved". The reason why "God so loved" because God himself is love.
I John 4:7-10 says, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins"
2. The second thing that John 3:16 teaches us is the object of God's love for it says 'For God so loved the world." This means that God loves you and I. It doesn't matter who you are, God loves you. You can be black or white, rich or poor, young or old, God loves you. It doesn't matter if you good or bad, God loves you. It doesn't matter if you been to prison or not, God loves you. It doesn't matter what you have done in your past or in your life, God loves you. In other words, no matter who you are , what you have done, God loves you. You are the object of God's love. He loves you with an everlasting love.
Jeremiah 31:3 says "The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.
3. The third thing that John 3:16 teaches us is the sacrifice of God's love for it says, "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son." What is the sacrifice of God's love? It is Jesus Christ dying for the sins of the world.
Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried, but in three days He rose up out of the grave with all power in His hands (I Corinthians 15:3-4)
4. The fourth and final thing that John 3:16 teaches us is the recipient of the gift of God's love for it says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but shall have ever lasting life."
What is the gift of God's love? It is the gift of eternal life.
Romans 6:23 says, " For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life"
And who is the recipient of the gift of God's love? It is for the "whosoever; for it says, "Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but shall have everlasting life."
Whosoever includes:
The black man
The white man
The yellow man
The red man,
the rich man,
the poor man,
the straight man
the gay man
the liar
the cheater,
the murderer
the backbiter
the gossiper
or anybody who confess and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ. Whosoever believeth on the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved!
So the four important things in John 3:16
1. God's love
2. The object of God's love
3. The sacrifice of God's love
4. The recipient of the gift of God's love
But just knowing these four things about John 3:16 is not enough. We must believe and obey what is says.
What does it say? John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
To be saved and receive eternal life, we must believe on the only begotten Son of God, which is Jesus Christ, our Lord. He died on the cross for our sins and He rose again from the dead with all power in His hands, and if we repent and believe and receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, you shall be saved.
