Luke 2:1-14 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour

I. Born A . . Promised Saviour 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

A. The Promised Place . . Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

B. The Promised Person . . Christ the Lord.

C. The Promised Purpose . . a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

(a). The Old Testament Recounts The Promise. Isa 7:14 Therefore the LORD HIMSELF shall GIVE YOU A SIGN; Behold, a VIRGIN SHALL CONCEIVE, and BEAR A SON, and shall call HIS NAME IMMANUEL.= "God With Us"

(b). The New Testament Records The Promise.

1. The Angels Announce It 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

2. The Shepherds Acknowledge It

16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

3. The Wise Men Attend It Mt 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

II. Born A . . Provided Saviour 11 For unto you is born this day

A. Provided Through . . Birth. 11 For unto you is born

B. Provided Through . . Bible Prophecy. in the city of David

C. Provided Through . . Blood - a Saviour

D. Provided Through . . Battle - a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

III. Born A . . Personal Saviour. 11 For unto you is born this day

A. The Individuality Of The Personal Saviour. 11 For unto you

B. The Inclusion Of The Personal Saviour. a Saviour, Christ the Lord

C. The Invitation Of The Personal Saviour - a Saviour (To those who come)

IV. Born A . . Perfect Saviour.

(a) The Personality Of The Child. Luke 1:32 HE SHALL BE GREAT, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

(b) The Piety Of The Child. and shall be called the Son of the Highest:

(c) The Power Of The Child - and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David

Rom 1:4 And DECLARED TO BE THE SON OF GOD with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

Acts 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead

V. Born A . . Practical Saviour 11 a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Matt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS.

(a) His Purpose Was To Reach Us.

John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? HE THAT HATH SEEN ME HATH SEEN THE FATHER; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

(b) His Purpose Was To Rescue Us.

Luke 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

Luke 15:8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

(c) His Purpose Was To Redeem Us.

Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, THOU ART WORTHY to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for THOU WAST SLAIN, and HAST REDEEMED US TO GOD BY THY BLOOD out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

(d) His Purpose Was To Restore Us.

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
