Summary: For Job's Comfort - Job 5:11

For Job's Comfort - Job 5:11

Job 5:11 - He raises up the humble and makes sad people happy.

I. The Humble Are Lifted Up

II. Sad People Are Made Happy

Whenever I'm very sad and unhappy about my life, I think of the greatest man, second to Jesus, that lived in pain, suffering and misery, I think about Job and his sufferings. Who can better be teaching me comfort, peace and joy other than Job with his sufferings.

Job comforted himself before God by thinking on these two things: (1) There's always someone watching us, and he lifts us up whenever we are made humble by our circumstances, and (2) God makes us happy whenever we're sad.

I. The Humble Are Lifted Up

1Samuel 2:7 The LORD makes some poor, and he makes others rich. He humbles some people, and he honors others.

1Samuel 2:8 He raises the poor from the dust, and he takes away their sadness. He makes them important and seats them with princes and at the places for honored guests. The LORD made the whole world, and the whole world belongs to him.

Psalms 91:14 The Lord says, "If someone trusts me, I will save them. I will protect my followers who call to me for help.

Psalms 107:41 But he rescues the poor from their misery. He makes their families large like flocks of sheep.

Ezekiel 17:24 "Then the other trees will know that I, the LORD, make tall trees fall to the ground, and I make small trees grow tall. I make green trees become dry, and I make dry trees become green. I am the LORD. If I say that I will do something, then I will do it!"

Luke 1:52 He brought down rulers from their thrones and raised up the humble people.

Luke 1:53 He filled the hungry with good things, but he sent the rich away with nothing.

God is in control, don't ever think the cheat can get away with it, God is watching and He will do something. He always raises the poor in spirit, and humble. He knows how to deliver us in our miseries, He's God.

II. Sad People Are Made Happy

Luke 6:21 Great blessings belong to you who are hungry now. You will be filled. Great blessings belong to you who are crying now. You will be happy and laughing.

James 1:9 Believers who are poor should be glad that God considers them so important.

1 Peter 5:10 Yes, you will suffer for a short time. But after that, God will make everything right. He will make you strong. He will support you and keep you from falling. He is the God who gives all grace. He chose you to share in his glory in Christ. That glory will continue forever.

Deuteronomy 33:27 God lives forever. He is your place of safety. His power continues forever! He is protecting you. He will force your enemies to leave your land. He will say, 'Destroy the enemy!'

1 Peter 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God has great mercy, and because of his mercy he gave us a new life. This new life brings us a living hope through Jesus Christ's resurrection from death.

James 4:6 But the kindness God shows is greater. As the Scripture says, "God is against the proud, but he is kind to the humble."

James 4:7 So give yourselves to God. Stand against the devil, and he will run away from you.

James 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. You are sinners, so clean sin out of your lives. You are trying to follow God and the world at the same time. Make your thinking pure.

James 4:9 Be sad, be sorry, and cry! Change your laughter into crying. Change your joy into sadness.

James 4:10 Be humble before the Lord, and he will make you great.

If you are suffering right now, just let it be known to God, it's a "love" thing, of course He knows it, but you have to tell it to Him. For example, of course lovers love each other, they know it themselves, but why do you think they need to tell it over and over again to each other? It's a "love" relationship thing. You need to tell it to God because He loves us so much.
