I. EXORDIUM:

Please raise your hand if you are a part of astrology, fortune telling and spiritist/enchantment.

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Sitio Visaya and/or Villa Luisa Homes 1

III. OBJECTIVES:

To display foolishness of occult.

IV. TEXT:

Daniel 2:10-11

Dan 2:10 The Chaldeans answered before the king and said, There is not a man on the earth who can reveal the king's matter, because not any king, lord, nor ruler has asked such a thing from any horoscopist or conjurer or Chaldean.

Dan 2:11 And it is a rare thing that the king asks, and there is no other who can reveal it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

A. PRAY - that we will depend on God's Divine Ability to know the future. (Deuteronomy 29:29)

Deuteronomy 29:29 - The secret things belong to Jehovah our God, but the revealed things belong to us and to our sons forever, so that we may do all the words of this Law.

V. THESIS:

Occultism Is Foolishness

VI. TITLE:

FOOLISHNESS OF OCCULTISM

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Date/Time of Writing: 607 B.C.

B. Author: Daniel, A companion book of Revelation, like Ezekiel, a Babylon captive

C. Theme: Visions and Prophecies of Daniel

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Came from their own mouth:

1. Magic started from Egypt. (Genesis 41:24)

Genesis 41:24 - And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears. And I spoke to the magicians, but there was none that could open it to me.

B. Ignorant of a man who can tell the dream.

1. They admitted they're useless. (Exodus 7:11-12)

Exodus 7:11-12 - Exo 7:11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers. And they, the magicians of Egypt, did the same with their secret arts. Exo 7:12 For each man threw down his rod, and they became snakes. But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

a. Their powers are under God's control.

C. Ignorant of a king who can command occults.

1. They have disrespected the king's authority thus disrespecting God's Authority. (Romans 13:1)

Romans 13:1

Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but of God; the authorities that exist are ordained by God.

D. They admit the difficulty of guessing. (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

1 Corinthians 1:26-31

1Co 1:26 For you see your calling, brothers, that not many wise men according to the flesh are called, not many mighty, not many noble.

1Co 1:27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

1Co 1:28 and God has chosen the base things of the world, and things which are despised, and things which are not, in order to bring to nothing things that are;

1Co 1:29 so that no flesh should glory in His presence.

1Co 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption;

1Co 1:31 so that, according as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the Lord."

1. God gave us righteousness, holiness and redemption, be content with those.

E. They admit only God can do what the king wants.

F. They admit God does not "talk" to them.

1. Because they don't listen. (James 1:22, 1 John 4:6)

a. God talks to all people but problem is in the listening and doing.

James 1:22

But become doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

1 John 4:6

We are of God. He who knows God hears us. The one who is not of God does not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Review and challenge them to leave the future to God, who owns and knows the future.

Deuteronomy 29:29 - The secret things belong to Jehovah our God, but the revealed things belong to us and to our sons forever, so that we may do all the words of this Law.
