Five ways to keep your wealth or riches

Written by Pastor Ndayiragije Misigaro Joel; December 12, 2022

“The silver is mine and gold is mine; declares the LORD Almighty.” Haggai 2:8.

INTRODUCTION.

Wealth or riches has a bigger role to play in the view of people, and believers also are not spared of the influence that this has. The choices vary in how to have enough of it, and how to remain committed to God. Most of the time, wealth, or riches to believers, is to be viewed in that way to flourish as a created human being and in how to acquire the physical possession thereof.

Some hold the belief of being wealthy or rich as what we obtain from God's blessing through wisdom, responsibility, discipline, hard work, saving, investing, and seeking God's will. We need to know and understand as to where does riches come from? What is the source? And the knowledge of how to handle these blessings of God. Who is to be known as the sole giver?

Matthew 6:19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

1. RICHES COME FROM JESUS CHRIST.

The scripture affirms that; The silver is mine and gold is mine; declares the LORD Almighty. Haggai 2:8.

Proverbs 10:22 “It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it.”

Wealth or riches is not yours. He is the provider and the source for that matter. In grace we have provision from Christ. Scripture says; "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might be rich." 2 Corinthians 8:9

Jesus is the source of all that we possess as believers. If he did not die for our sake, the liberty we enjoy could be something else not to talk about. Can you speak of riches if you do not have Christ, to what end does that serve? "For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked." Revelation 3:17 (ESV).

2. ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR LORD.

Remembering God in your wealth, is the means to look deep into one's faith relating to the source of everything. And believers should not make errors; of forgetting that. This is a way of worshiping and glorifying God.

In the matter of faith, we worship God with all that he entrusts us with, including our wealth, as Moses replied to Pharaoh, that we are going to serve our God, with our young and old, our sheep and herds, for it is the solemnity of the Lord our God. (Exodus 10:9)

"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day." Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV).

"If then you have not been faithful to the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?" Luke 16:11

Believers should not only remember God with their empty lips, but with all that God blesses them with.

3. WORK WITH YOUR OWN HANDS.

Working with your hands is part of the fulfillment of God's charge to Adam and Eve in the garden after fall. God does not promote laziness or dull people.

Believers of Christ need to have something from which God will bless them. There is no such thing that we do not have? God wanted Moses to go save the children of Israel from slavery. Moses regarded himself as not having anything at all. But the wisdom of God asked him what was in his hands. Moses, just a small stick that is useless! But to God and with God, there was power and miracles in the stick. (Exodus 4:2-9)

God's blessings are paramount, but he cannot do it if all people do is cross their hands.

Ephesians 4:28. NLT: "If you are a thief; quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need."

Stealing is not of God. Rather use your own hands for acceptable and tough work. It is better, and this will make people become generous towards others who lack it.

Proverbs 14:23 "In all toils there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty."

Proverbs 13:11 wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it."

4. MEDITATING ON THE WORD OF GOD?

Studying the word of God in meditation will always reveal to you the will of God, and how you need to carry out your daily activities and remain successful and prosperous.
