"Five Reasons Jesus Rose Again” Matthew 28:6
Contributed by David Cramer on Mar 30, 2026 (message contributor)
Summary: An Easter message for those who don't know why Jesus rose from the grave. This message has five reasons why.
“Five Reasons Jesus Rose Again”
Stand with me and hold up your Bible and repeat after me.
“This is my Bible.
I am what it says I am.
I have what it says I have.
I can do what it says I can do.
Today, I will be taught the Word of God.
I boldly confess—my mind is alert, my heart is receptive, and I will never be the same.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
Today is not just another Sunday.
This is the day that split history in half.
This is the day death lost its grip.
This is the day heaven declared victory.
The stone was rolled away—not so Jesus could get out… but so we could look in and believe.
Turn in your Bibles to Matthew 28:6 and say, "Amen" when you are there.
“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”
Notice those words: “just as He said.”
Jesus keeps His promises.
Jesus finishes what He starts.
Jesus does exactly what He declares.
When you buy something, you get a receipt. That receipt proves the transaction is complete.
The cross was the payment
The resurrection is the receipt
Without the resurrection, we wouldn’t know if the payment cleared.
But because He rose… it means your sin debt has been paid in full.
Five Reasons Jesus Rose Again
1. Jesus Rose to Prove He Is the Son of God
Romans 1:4 – “Declared to be the Son of God with power… by the resurrection from the dead.”
Anyone can make a claim. Only Jesus backed it up.
He said:
“I am the way”
“I am the truth”
“I am the life”
And then He proved it by walking out of a sealed tomb.
If someone today said, “I will die on Friday and rise on Sunday,” we would dismiss them.
But Jesus:
Predicted His death
Predicted His resurrection
Fulfilled both perfectly
That separates Him from every other figure in history.
You can trust Him with your life because He proved His authority over death.
2. Jesus Rose to Conquer Sin and Death
1 Corinthians 15:57
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The resurrection is not just an event—it’s a victory.
At the cross, it looked like Jesus lost.
But the resurrection revealed He was winning all along.
There was a man who spent years trapped in addiction. Every promise he made, he broke. Every attempt to change failed. He felt like sin owned him.
But when he encountered Jesus—not religion, but resurrection power—something shifted.
It wasn’t instant perfection… but it was real transformation.
The desire began to weaken
The chains began to loosen
Hope began to rise
Because you cannot encounter a risen Savior and remain the same.
Sin no longer has the final say
Your past no longer has control
The enemy no longer owns you
3. Jesus Rose to Give Us New Life
Romans 6:4
“…just as Christ was raised from the dead… we too may live a new life.”
Christianity is not behavior modification—it’s transformation.
A tomb is a place of endings.
But God turned a tomb into a doorway.
What looked like:
An ending ? became a beginning
A burial ? became a breakthrough
Some of you feel like your life is over:
“I’ve messed up too much”
“I’ve gone too far”
“God can’t use me”
But the resurrection says:
God specializes in bringing life out of dead places.
God doesn’t just improve your life—He gives you a new one.
4. Jesus Rose to Give Us Hope and Purpose
1 Peter 1:3
“…a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ…”
Not dead hope. Not temporary hope.
Living hope
A man once sat in a jail cell thinking his life was over. His future looked like a closed door.
But someone brought him the message of Jesus.
And in that cell:
He found forgiveness
He found purpose
He found calling
Years later, he was leading others to freedom.
That’s resurrection power—it rewrites your story.
Your worst chapter does not get the final word.
God is still writing your story.
5. Jesus Rose to Give Us Eternal Life
John 14:19
“Because I live, you also will live.”
The resurrection is not just about today—it’s about forever.
For the believer, death is not a wall—it’s a doorway.
We don’t grieve like the world grieves.
Why?
Because the grave is temporary.
Because Jesus got up…
You will get up too.
You’ve heard the message…
But now the question is:
What will you do with Jesus?
You can’t celebrate Easter and ignore the Savior.
Some of you have a stone in your life:
A stone of sin
A stone of shame
A stone of addiction
A stone of fear
And you’ve been living in a spiritual tomb.
