Prioritize seeking God, trust in His power and provision, and experience the peace that comes from relying on Him in all aspects of our lives.
Good morning, dear church family! I am excited to share with you today a message from the book of Matthew. It's about the priority of seeking God, the power of trusting God, and the peace of relying on God.
Before we dive into the Scripture, let me share a quote from A.W. Tozer, "The man who has God for his treasure has all things in One." Isn't that a profound statement? When we have God as our treasure, we have everything we need.
Jesus is teaching His followers about the importance of focusing on the things that truly matter in life, and He emphasizes that seeking God should be our top priority.
Why seeking God should be our top priority: In the passage, Jesus tells us not to worry about the material things of life, such as food, drink, and clothing. Instead, He encourages us to focus on seeking God's kingdom and His righteousness. This is because our relationship with God is the most important aspect of our lives. It is through this relationship that we find meaning, purpose, and eternal life. When we prioritize seeking God above all else, we are acknowledging that He is the source of all good things and that our ultimate satisfaction and fulfillment come from knowing and loving Him.
Seeking God first is a matter of trust: When we prioritize our relationship with God, we are demonstrating our trust in His ability to provide for our needs and care for us. Jesus reminds us in the passage that our heavenly Father knows what we need, and He is more than capable of providing for us. By seeking God first, we are expressing our faith in His goodness and power, and we are choosing to rely on Him rather than our own efforts or resources.
Seeking God in our daily lives: There are several practical ways we can do this, and they all involve cultivating a deeper relationship with God. One way is through prayer. Prayer is our direct line of communication with God, and it is an essential part of seeking Him. When we pray, we are not only expressing our needs and desires to God, but we are also listening for His guidance and wisdom. By making prayer a regular part of our daily routine, we are prioritizing our relationship with God and inviting Him to be an active part of our lives.
The study of His Word: The Bible is God's revelation of Himself to us, and it is through the Scriptures that we come to know Him better. By reading and meditating on the Bible, we are immersing ourselves in the truth of God's character and His plan for our lives. This helps us to grow in our understanding of who God is and how He wants us to live. When we prioritize the study of God's Word, we are making a conscious effort to seek Him and grow in our relationship with Him.
Spending time in worship and fellowship with other believers: When we gather together as a community of faith, we are able to encourage one another, learn from each other's experiences, and grow together in our pursuit of God. Participating in corporate worship and engaging in meaningful relationships with other Christians are essential aspects of seeking God and making Him our top priority.
Living a life of obedience to His commands: Jesus tells us in John 14:15, "If you love me, keep my commands." When we prioritize seeking God, we are committing ourselves to following His will for our lives and aligning our actions with His desires. This means making choices that honor God, even when they are difficult or unpopular. By living a life of obedience, we are demonstrating our love for God and our commitment to seeking Him above all else.
The blessings that come from making Him our top priority: One of these blessings is the assurance of God's provision. In the passage from Matthew 6, Jesus promises that when we seek God first, all of our material needs will be provided for. This does not mean that we will never experience hardship or lack, but it does mean that we can trust God to care for us and provide for our needs as we seek Him.
Peace that comes from trusting in His sovereignty: When we prioritize our relationship with God, we are choosing to rest in His control over our lives and the world around us. This brings a deep sense of peace and security, as we know that our lives are in the hands of a loving and powerful God.
The power of trusting God is the belief that God is in control of all things and that He will provide for our needs, protect us from harm, and guide us through life's challenges ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
