Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Jesus calls us to focus on His peace, His place, His promises and His plan.
In this sermon, we will explore the four truths that Jesus imparts to His disciples in John 14. These truths are essential for us to trust in as well, as they provide us with peace, assurance, and hope in our journey of faith.
Jesus begins by addressing the troubled hearts of His disciples. He urges them to find solace in His peace, a peace that surpasses worldly understanding. Despite the challenges and uncertainties they face, Jesus encourages them to trust in Him and His ability to bring calmness and serenity to their lives.
Next, Jesus assures His disciples that He is going to prepare a place for them in His Father's house. He uses the analogy of a traveler sending someone ahead to secure lodging in a distant city. Similarly, Jesus has gone ahead to prepare a permanent dwelling for those who believe in Him. This promise gives His followers the hope of an eternal home in heaven, where they will be reunited with Him.
Jesus further promises His disciples that He will return to take them to be with Him. He assures them that they will not be left as orphans but will be united with Him again. Throughout the Bible, God has made numerous promises, and not one of them has ever been broken. We can trust in Jesus' promise of eternal life and the fulfillment of all His assurances.
Lastly, Jesus emphasizes that He is the way, the truth, and the life. He declares that no one can come to the Father except through Him. Jesus offers an exclusive invitation to salvation, highlighting the necessity of belief in Him for entering the kingdom of God. To follow His plan, we must be born again spiritually and surrender our lives to Him.
In conclusion, Jesus calls us to trust in His peace, His place, His promises, and His plan. He offers a peace that surpasses understanding, assures us of a prepared place in heaven, promises to return and take us to be with Him, and provides the only way to eternal life through belief in Him. Let us embrace His peace, focus on our heavenly destination, hold fast to His promises, and commit to following His plan. May we not delay in repenting and receiving Christ for our redemption.
