Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Based on John 14:1-7, the sermon explores the profound truths and promises of God found in the Bible, offering a perspective on finding new life through faith.
We are gathered here today to remember and honor our beloved brother/sister in Christ, ____________________. We come together to mourn our loss, to reflect on his/her life, and to find comfort in one another. But above all, we gather here to celebrate the love of God, who promises us victory over death and eternal life with Jesus.
The 14th chapter of the Gospel of John holds some of the most profound truths and promises of God. In this passage, Jesus prepares His disciples for the future and assures them that they need not be troubled. These words are not only meant for the disciples but for all of us who face adversities, troubles, and sorrow in life. Jesus encourages us to trust in God and in Him.
One of the greatest truths we find in this passage is that God's house, which is heaven, has many rooms or mansions. Jesus assures us that He is preparing a place for us in His Father's house. This brings great comfort, knowing that we have a permanent home where we are accepted and loved by God.
Another truth we learn is that Jesus will come back for us. He will not only show us the way to heaven but personally lead us there. The Apostle Paul expands on this truth, assuring us that when Christ returns, the dead in Christ will rise first. ___________ died in the Lord, knowing Christ as his/her personal Savior, so he/she will have a head start on those who are still living.
The final truth we find in this passage is that we will be with the Lord forever. Heaven is a place where we walk hand-in-hand with Jesus, experiencing His glory and victory. Death is not the end but a new beginning, where we find eternal life and joy in the presence of God.
As we remember _____________'s life, we see how he/she cherished and embraced life. He/she loved his/her family unconditionally and was always concerned for their well-being. _____________ shared his/her life and love with everyone, and his/her presence will be deeply missed.
Though we grieve and feel profound sadness, we can find comfort in the promise of God. By faith, we celebrate the victory that _____________ has now won over death through Jesus Christ. We trust that we will be reunited with him/her in the presence of God.
Death is never easy to face, but knowing that God offers us eternal life through Jesus brings us hope and peace. May you find comfort in the Lord Jesus Christ, who offers us light and life eternal. Amen.
