Introduction

The Living Christ is the source of our new birth and our living hope. If you have a living hope in the living Christ, you can deal with your past failures and present difficulties because of your future blessings. God's glorious best for you lies ahead.

I. A Living Hope (1 Peter 1:3)

Peter begins his letter by praising God for the wonder of salvation. Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, God has caused us to be born again to a living hope. This living hope is certain and real, unlike the empty hope the world offers. It is based on the fact that Jesus is alive.

II. A Future Hope (1 Peter 1:4)

Our hope includes the promise of a better tomorrow. We have an imperishable and undefiled inheritance reserved in heaven for us. This inheritance is better than anything this world can offer. It is secure and will never fade away.

III. A Present Hope (1 Peter 1:5-6)

Because of our living hope, we can trust in God's protection. We are shielded by His power through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Though we may face various trials and temporary distress, our hope enables us to rejoice greatly even in difficult circumstances.

Conclusion

Peter encourages his readers to trust in Jesus, live obediently in hard circumstances, and keep their hope fixed on God's ultimate purpose of deliverance and their heavenly reward. The living hope we have in Christ gives us confidence and strength to face any situation. It is a hope that never dies, rooted in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Let us hold on to this living hope and look forward to the glorious future that awaits us in Him.
