Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
A comforting message for the bereaved, focusing on the assurance of salvation for the departed and the gospel message for the unsaved present.
As we gather here today to remember ______________'s life, we experience a mix of emotions. We feel sadness because we have lost a dear loved one, but we also feel joy knowing that ______________ is now in the presence of the Lord. Today is not a day of mourning but a day of celebration. We come together to remember ______________'s life and cherish the precious moments we shared with her.
At this time, I invite anyone who would like to share a memory or tribute to ______________ to come forward and do so.
Introduction:
As we gather here today to remember ______________'s life, we experience a mix of emotions. We feel sadness because we have lost a dear loved one, but we also feel joy knowing that ______________ is now in the presence of the Lord. Today is not a day of mourning but a day of celebration. We come together to remember ______________'s life and cherish the precious moments we shared with her.
______________ had a deep relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, which brings us great comfort. In John 14:1-6, Jesus offers promises to all believers. Let us explore these promises together.
I. The First Promise: Freedom from the Fear of Death
Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me" (John 14:1). As Christians, we need not fear death because Jesus has conquered the grave. Death has no power over us. We can face death without fear, knowing that through Christ, we also conquer death.
II. The Second Promise: A Prepared Place in Heaven
Jesus assured His disciples, "My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?" (John 14:2). In heaven, there will be no more sorrow, crying, or pain. It is a place of great beauty and eternal joy. ______________ is now experiencing the wonders of heaven, free from all earthly limitations.
III. The Third Promise: Personal Reception by Jesus
Jesus said, "I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am" (John 14:3). When ______________ took her first breath in heaven, the Lord was there to welcome her with open arms. She experienced a love beyond our comprehension, a love that forgives all failures and understands every feeling. In His presence, she found complete satisfaction for her soul.
IV. The Last Promise: Salvation through Jesus Alone
Jesus declared, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Salvation and entry into heaven are only possible through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is not about religious affiliation or good deeds; it is about accepting Christ's sacrifice for our sins. ______________ understood this truth and embraced it wholeheartedly.
Conclusion:
It is ______________'s desire that each one of us also experiences the same relationship she had with the Savior. Salvation is available to all who believe in Jesus Christ. We must acknowledge that sin separates us from God, ask for His forgiveness, and invite Him to be our personal Savior. The promise of eternal life in heaven can be ours through faith in Christ.
In closing, let us remember ______________'s life and the impact she had on all of us. May we find comfort in the promises of God and the assurance that ______________ is now in a place of eternal joy and peace. Let us also reflect on our own relationship with the Lord and seek to live in a way that honors Him.
