Summary: Talks about the Holy Spirit.
Title: Fill Me Up God
Scripture: John 7:37-38 KJV:
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Introduction: In early 2015, Casey J released an album entitled, "The Truth" which has 11 songs and 1 bonus song. But one song stands out that has ringed out to churches to sing during their church service. The lyrics are: "If you provide the fire. I'll provide the sacrifice. If you pour out your spirit. Fill me up God. Fill me up God. Fill me up God." Yes I am talking the song entitled, "Fill Me Up God." On this Pentecost Sunday, we want to ask God to fill us up.
Application: The 1st point is what is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the one who comforts us, guides us, teaches us, corrects us, fills us, and illuminates us. John 14:26 sums up what I was trying to say, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
The 2nd and final point is what happens when I receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? Our text answers this question which is in John 7:38, "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." Acts 1:8 also answers this question, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." You will be able to do the works that Jesus has done. John 14:12 says, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." You will receive a prayer language to pray to the father. Acts 2:4 says, "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
Conclusion: Are you dry spiritually? Are you saying, "There's gonna be something more." Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit. You will give you a river that will never dry. Want you ask God to fill you? He will give you power, strength, and a prayer language to talk to him. Lord, if you provide the fire. We will provide the sacrifice. If you pour the spirit. We will open up inside. Fill us up God.
