Sermons

Summary: When you read prophecy we may be trying to stop what God has planned for our time thus all of our angst may be in vain.

Acts 5:38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. KJV

As I watch the various postings fly back and forth of all the things that are, might and will happen to the US in the coming years I have consider the flip side of these verses.

As we know, the Apostles were of God and the Sanhedrin and various opponents could not stop them or the Gospel from spreading.

Conversely, we have been predicting the Rapture, the Tribulation and the Antichrist heavily for the last 45 years at least or since I became a Christian in '75. to come to power. All of our values will be rejected in an age of apostasy as was predicted would happen. Evil men shall wax worse and worse, etc. and etc.

Thus we may well be fighting against God if this is the time for all that to come to pass. Reality is that there is nothing that can be sanely or legally done until Nov 2020 and frankly I do not foresee anything really good happening as no matter which party wins there will be a bad moon rising as the old song said.

DO the right thing. This is a spiritual issue, not a political one. Pray for the salvation of those who oppose God. Be about soulwinning as we should have been all along. Pray for revival of a carnal, materialistic, fad seeking, pop shrunk Church that has no impact on the culture since there is little difference between the Church and the culture. Pray for the salvation of false prophets and the "conversion" of pastors and Christians who have compromised the Word for fame and fortune or out of fear. Start meeting more regularly at Church. The early Christians met daily for prayer and exhortation. At best, many meet four hours a week with the majority one to two hours on Sunday.

Get back into the Word and prayer for yourself. Stop living for this world and live as though you have been given less than a year to live. Get out of debt and live simply and the economy will not matter as much. Spend your time and money on things that will last for eternity. Get healthily spiritually and maybe it will effect your health and you won't have to worry about healthcare.

Live for the next world more than this one and God may well adjust this one for you.

If not, and we all end up in a jail or prison camp or are executed or euthanized then it was God's will to have us suffer and die for His glory and to bring us into the fellowship of his sufferings to give us the martyr's crown. You want to see true praise and worship? In the camps is where you most likely see it more than the concerts on Sundays. Ask our brethren who are persecuted around the world. Want the deeper life? It is found in the sufferings of Christ and in the cells with the Apostle Paul not in the plush mansions we call churches or in the messages of the soft and pretty preachers. It is in the beaten and bruised bodies of Paul, Stephen and on the isles of exile with John.

Wake up Church! Jesus is coming, but He may well take us through some fires of purifying persecution before we get to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Will you fight against it or welcome it and embrace it as the will of God for His glory and your edification and elevation to greater heights in the Kingdom?

Maranatha!!!

Bro. Shultz, I just want to let you know what a blessing your message is to me. I have been studying the thought for my S.S. class regarding God's will being unstoppable and found your sermon. What truth and what a needed perspective for all of us as we face a frustrating and difficult new year. I have been teaching for over 50 years as an Independent Baptist, and have witnessed a steady decline in true, Spirit anointed preaching. Thank you, and I pray God continues to bless your ministry.
