Summary: Encouragement to fight on
Fight Like A Girl
Judges 4:17-24
Will you always love me, old fat and bald, I do
1. She decided there was a war going on vs 17
The majority of our country may be ok with the sin and filthiness
that’s all around us, but it’s time the church decided that
there is a war going on.
The enemy is advancing. There is a constant and consistent
spiritual onslaught against our morals, beliefs, and doctrines
Jn 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy
He hasn’t changed
Jack Handey in his book Fuzzy Moments writes- “There used to be this
bully who would demand my lunch money every day. Since I was
smaller, I would give it to him. Then I decided to fight back. I
started to take karate lessons, but the instructor wanted 5 dollars a
lesson. That was a lot of money. I found out that it was cheaper to
pay the bully so I gave up karate.”
For some reason the church has gotten used to paying the bully instead of
taking the God given power we have as Christians and defeating him
2. She decided to join in the war vs 18
She didn’t have to do a thing. She could have stayed neutral, not
taking either side, but when it comes to the war for men’s souls,
there is no neutral. You are either fighting for God or you are
helping God’s enemies
I know, some of you are probably asking yourself, But what can I do?
The real question should be “What can’t you do”?
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and
scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing
shall by any means hurt you.
Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and
every tongue [that] shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt
condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
and their righteousness [is] of me, saith the LORD.
Ps 28:7 The LORD [is] my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in
him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth;
and with my song will I praise him.
Ps 27:1 [A Psalm] of David. The LORD [is] my light and my
salvation whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my
life; of whom shall I be afraid?2 When the wicked, even mine
enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh,
they stumbled and fell.1 3 Though an host should encamp
against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should
rise against me, in this [will] I [be] confident
Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
3. She decided to win the war vs 21
Colorful, old-time evangelist Billy Sunday said of sin, "I’m against sin. I’ll kick it as long as I’ve got a foot. I’ll fight it as long as I’ve got a fist. I’ll butt it as long as I have a head. And I’ll bite it as long as I’ve got a tooth, and when I am old, fistless, footless, and toothless, I’ll gum it till I go home to glory..."
You may have believed the lie Satan has told you and you really
think that there is nothing you can do, but the truth is, you can
do something. There is always something you can do to fight,
and the best way to fight is to attack. Always attack.
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and
he will flee from you.
On the fifth of June, 1940, not even a month after he became prime minister, Winston Churchill spoke to the British people to try and encourage them because their desperate situation.
Bear in mind that in September of the previous year the Nazis had invaded Poland, with no effective resistance. Thereafter, with swift and sudden violence Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, all had fallen prey to the Nazis. And now, just a few days earlier, France had also collapsed, with thousands of British soldiers having to be evacuated from Dunkirk. It must have seemed that nothing stood in the way of the destruction of all of Europe. England was in a truly desperate situation
Mr. Churchill’s strong speech, however, helped keep the British people’s spirits up, You see he knew that defeat comes not simply because the enemy is stronger. He knew that defeat comes because people think they can be defeated; defeat comes when you believe that you can be beaten.
In his speech to the British people he said
’Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival ... we shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."
