VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Fearful thing to incur the divine penalties

"It is a fearful (formidable and terrible) thing to incur the divine penalties"

Fearful or "phoberos" in Greek meaning

1. inspiring fear, terrible, formidable

2. affected with fear, timid

Hebrews 10:27 (Amplified Bible)

10:27 [There is nothing left for us then] but a kind of awful and fearful prospect and expectation of divine judgment and the fury of burning wrath and indignation which will consume those who put themselves in opposition [to God].

Isaiah 26:11 (Amplified Bible)

26:11 Though Your hand is lifted high to strike, Lord, they do not see it. Let them see Your zeal for Your people and be ashamed; yes, let the fire reserved for Your enemies consume them.

Isaiah 33:14 (Amplified Bible)

33:14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling seizes the godless ones. [They cry] Who among us can dwell with that devouring fire? Who among us can dwell with those everlasting burnings?

Luke 21:11 (Amplified Bible)

21:11 There will be mighty and violent earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences (plagues: malignant and contagious or infectious epidemic diseases which are deadly and devastating); and there will be sights of terror and great signs from heaven.

Those who rejected CHRIST as their LORD and Savior will incur the divine penalties, not because they are sinful or born into sin, gained the Adamic sinful nature but simply for their rejection of the blood of CHRIST.

Hebrews 10:29-30 (Amplified Bible)

10:29 How much worse (sterner and heavier) punishment do you suppose he will be judged to deserve who has spurned and [thus] trampled underfoot the Son of God, and who has considered the covenant blood by which he was consecrated common and unhallowed, thus profaning it and insulting and outraging the [Holy] Spirit [Who imparts] grace (the unmerited favor and blessing of God)?

10:30 For we know Him Who said, Vengeance is Mine [retribution and the meting out of full justice rest with Me]; I will repay [I will exact the compensation], says the Lord. And again, The Lord will judge and determine and solve and settle the cause and the cases of His people.

B. Fearful thing to be cast into the hands of the living GOD

"and be cast into the hands of the living God!"

Fall or "empipto" in Greek meaning:

1. to fall into

2. be entrapped by

3. be overwhelmed with

Matthew 10:28 (Amplified Bible)

10:28 And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Gehenna).

Psalms 76:7 (Amplified Bible)

76:7 You, even You, are to be feared [with awe and reverence]! Who may stand in Your presence when once Your anger is roused?

Psalms 50:22 (Amplified Bible)

50:22 Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

Psalms 90:11 (Amplified Bible)

90:11 Who knows the power of Your anger? [Who worthily connects this brevity of life with Your recognition of sin?] And Your wrath, who connects it with the reverent and worshipful fear that is due You?

IX. CONCLUSION:

Thank You very much LORD JESUS for Your Perfect Love casts away all fears in me, I am not disturbed by their opposition because I am blessed with Your Presence.

1 Peter 3:14 (Amplified Bible)

3:14 But even in case you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, [you are] blessed (happy, to be envied). Do not dread or be afraid of their threats, nor be disturbed [by their opposition].

1 John 4:18 (Amplified Bible)

4:18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection].
