The Blessings of Those Who Fear God

Psalm 112:1-10

The fear of the Lord is a healthy Thing----

If you’ve been here, You know I don’t tell you that God is mean, HE ISN’T\

HE DISCIPLINES, HE CHALLENGES, HE TESTS, HE WAITS----HE”S NOT MEAN

Many teach---God is waiting----For the chance to knock your head off

One slip up---He won’t love you anymore

One mistake—Forgiveness is over

I’m so glad I serve a God of 2nd chances, 3rd, 4th, 5th, Chance after chance

But there is a reverence, in recognizing of WHO GOD REALLY IS

You go to him in prayer---

You talk to him, GIVE HIM ULTIMATUMS

GOD YOU NEED TO DO THIS----

THAT SILENCE YOU HEAR----IS CALLED MERCY

PSALM 8- When I consider the heavens….DISCUSS----Paul….THE ATTRIBUTES ARE VISIBLE

Let’s look at verse that spells out---The beauty of FEARING THE LORD

1. We’re blessed when we fear the Lord--- VS 1

Blessing is something that can never be taken away---

Curses can be reversed, blessings are forever

Sermon/ mount----Blessed are…. Jesus--speaking a blessing over the congregation

2. Our Children will be mighty--- VS 2

In a time of psychology and new age psycho- babble----

We’ve missed the beauty of this verse

When parents begin to fear the Lord--- And raise their kids with that attitude

We’ll see the world change through our children

Lots of Christians waiting for D.C. to fix stuff----

Complain about what’s not happening---They wont do anything to fix it

“How can I fix it?” ---FEAR THE LORD, KIDS WILL BE MIGHTY

Parents concentrate on: GRADES, SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, SPORTS, FRIENDS,

You want your kid to succeed-----FEAR THE LORD

3. Wealth and Riches will be in our house--- Vs 3

How can David relate THE FEAR OF GOD to WEALTH

When you are a giver----YOU KNOW YOUR PLACE

You know that much of what you have belongs to God

Even if you don’t give---- You know it belongs to God

When have fear and reverence for the LORD----

You know he expects nothing----

BUT YOU OWE HIM EVERYTHING

When you begin to SOW in to the KINGDOM----

Riches come, Wealth comes

God will always supply your needs---

According to his riches in glory

But when you recognize the power of Almighty God---And GIVE after your heart

Sowing reaping----Seed time and Harvest

I’m not saying give, and God will make you rich

I’m saying FEAR GOD---He will bring wealth and riches

4. You will be able to Love--- VS 4-5

When you see Who God is, what he’s done

You’ll say: Who am I to judge, Who am I to condemn, Who am I to throw stones

It says, “gracious, compassionate, righteous”

THIS SHOWS HOW LITTLE FEAR IS THE CHURCH

People judging, backbiting, hurting, gossiping, ----That’s just the women

Jesus said, John 14---A new commandment I give, LOVE ONE ANOTHER

Church without LOVE----It all crumbles

Fear the Lord---You’ll remember who he is, WHERE YOU WERE------------WHO YOU ARE

5. Builds our faith---VS 6-8

When we fear the Lord----We fear everything else less

Earlier in this series---How you see your problems---is how you see your GOD

When you recall everything he’s done…AND OFTEN

Start believing--- no weapon, I can so all things, If God is for me, More that conq.

6. The fear of the Lord causes the world to hate us---9-10

When things don’t get to you

When You know You have a God bigger than all things---WORLD hates that

When they see you doubt and crumble----THEY GIGGLE

There’s nothing wrong with being affected---DON’T BE AFFLICTED

We get down, and out----We’re not down and out

We feel defeated----------We’re not defeated

We feel neglected---------We’re not neglected

What ever they world throws at you--- “The desire of the wicked will perish”

Let em say things, call you things, lie about you…Their desire will perish

You’ll be victorious----YOU HAVE THE FEAR OF THE LORD
