Proverbs 4:1-4-Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding; For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law.

When I was my father’s son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother,

He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live.

Hear-Sometimes I wonder what my children hear when I talk? Do they hear what the peanuts (Cartoon) heard when the teacher was talking? Womp womp womp womp womp womp womp.

Father-Who passing on these instructions? Who was saying listen to God’s word?

Who was saying obey God’s law? The father!

He didn’t pass the buck to the Sunday School teacher!

He didn’t pass the buck to the preacher!

He didn’t pass the buck to the vacation Bible school class!

He didn’t even pass the buck to the mom! That’s a shocker!

He knew it was his responsibility…To train up a child in the way they should go!!!

What happens at my house, and what happens at your house, will eventually effect what happens at the court house and what happens at the white house!

Long before prayer was taken out of school, it was taken out of the home!!

It is our responsibility to be the spiritual leaders in our homes, it has to start with us!!

We will have to answer to God if we have failed to do this important task!!

We may not can change government policies, but we can change or correct, or continue what happens in our house!! As for me and my house we will serve the Lord!!

Understanding-We are to teach our children how to understand God’s laws, why God gave them to us.

We are to teach them that God’s laws are not there to hinder us but to help us!

We should be doing this from the time they are old enough to hold in our arms!!

My kids are grown! It is still not to late, because when our kids get knocked to ground by life and it’s problems, we should be there to tell them…”Who can help them up!”

It’s never to late to be a Godly influence in your child’s life, no matter how old they are!!!

Plus, sometimes its not till they get older anyways, they realize how smart you are!!!

Doctrine-The father is saying, “I’m teaching you truth, I’m giving you principles to live by, I’m giving you a belief system, that you can pass down to your children!”

My Law-God’s law has to be your law!

Your children are not going to pay attention to God’s laws, if they don’t see you obeying God’s laws!

I know what your thinking, “Don’t do as I do, do as I say do!” Throw that philosophy out the window!!!

If they see you living for Christ, that influence is going to be with them the rest of their life, even if your not!!!

1 Kings 3:1-14-Now Solomon made a treaty with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and married Pharaoh’s daughter; then he brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall all around Jerusalem.

Meanwhile the people sacrificed at the high places, because there was no house built for the name of the Lord until those days.

And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places.

Now the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place: Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.

At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?”

And Solomon said: “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.

(Mentioned His Father 6 Times)

And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted.

Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

Then God said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice,
