VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. If Solomon will remain faithful to GOD

1. CHRIST remained faithful to the FATHER until death (Philippians 2:8, John 17:19, Romans 9:32, Colossians 1:27)

Philippians 2:8 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

John 17:19 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.

Hebrews 3:6 (New Century Version)

But Christ is faithful as a Son over God’s house. And we are God’s house if we keep on being very sure about our great hope.

Colossians 1:27 (New Century Version)

God decided to let his people know this rich and glorious secret which he has for all people. This secret is Christ himself, who is in you. He is our only hope for glory.

Romans 9:32 (New Century Version)

because they tried to make themselves right by the things they did instead of trusting in God to make them right. They stumbled over the stone that causes people to stumble.

King Solomon was faithful like a man, by himself, not by CHRIST, that's why he failed miserably, got 700 wives and concubines and his old age, the same wives led him to idolatry, but CHRIST remained Faithful as a Son because of us. Let's say King Solomon got it all right like his father, King David, who was faithful, nevertheless, they will only be faithful as servants and not sons unlike the LORD JESUS CHRIST. JESUS CHRIST is inside us.

B. Like his father, King David

1. We have the LORD JESUS CHRIST who fulfilled it all for us.

2. If you will be faithful in following his commands, you will fail because you have not done it in the power of CHRIST.

Psalms 71:7-8 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection.

That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.

King David, the father of King Solomon acknowledged GOD in his life, and even in his kingship, He declared GOD's glory all day long, think about it, when we can't do it by ourselves declaring GOD's glory all day, though King David is busier because he's the King of Israel. He declared GOD to be Faithful and the One who's helping him all the time, think about the humility. But in our time, we can look forward to the LORD JESUS CHRIST's finished work on the Cross of Calvary, He did it all for us so our faithfulness is not based on man's effort that is guaranteed to fail but on the Faithfulness of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Psalms 70:5 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

But as for me, I am poor and needy; please hurry to my aid, O God. You are my helper and my savior; O Lord, do not delay.

2 Timothy 2:13 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.

Hebrews 2:17 (New International Version)

For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.
