“Faithful with Little”

“God has dreams for us,

that we ourselves have not imagined”

God reveals His dream through us when…

We realize that “We cannot do it”.

We “Let God love us and love others through .”

We are “Faithful with little, God will give us more.”

Taco Bell Story~ When I worked at Taco Bell as a college student, I started out working the drive through.

But I wanted to move straight to the managers office. I didn’t understand that I have to be faithful making bean burritos before I could become manager.

Read Scripture: Genesis 39:1-6 (p. 29)

Proverbs 13:11

Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.

Matthew 18:2

He called a little child and had him stand among them.

Matthew 18:3

And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 18:5

"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.

Matthew 19:14

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

If we are faithful with little,

When we are faithful with …

Our Opportunity ∙ what we have been “asked to do” (39:2, 20).

Our Choice ∙ a critical moral choice (39:9b-10).

Our Talent ∙ our special “gifts” from God (40:8b; Mt. 25:14-15).

AWL FOR THE GOOD

In 1809, Simon Renee Braille and his wife Monique welcomed their fourth child into the world-- a lively boy named Louis. They lived in a small stone house near Paris where Braille was the local harness maker. Leather working tools are dangerous, so the toddler had been instructed not to go into his father’s shop alone.

But when Louis was still small, he slipped into the shop, and with curiosity started to handle all the fascinating tools. As Louis was inspecting an awl, the sharp tool used to punch holes in leather, he slipped and punctured a part of his eye with the tool. The injured eye became infected. The little boy could not keep his hands from rubbing and scratching the wound, and soon the infection spread to his other eye as well. When Louis was only 4, he became completely blind.

Louis was fortunate enough to study at the Royal Institution for Blind Youth in Paris. He excelled as an organist, and at twelve years old began asking the question “How can the blind read?” Over his summer break at home, Louis was determined to find the answer. As

He moved and groped around his father’s shop in search of the right tool for his task, the awl presented itself as perfect for the job. The awl would make the raised dots he had seen in the French military system of “night writing.” And with the very instrument that had blinded him, Louis worked and worked until he had created a system of dots whereby the blind could read and write, work math problems and compose music.

What is your awl--The thing that has crippled you, either by your own doing like young Louis, or someone else’s? Is it a divorce, the death of someone you love, a lost career? Let God take it, and use it in your life for good—to reshape you or comfort others.

Ensenada, Mexico…and a thirteen year old boy.

Ken Hendron- former Intel Director after coming to work at Adventure Christian Church said:

1. I am overwhelmed by how little I am.

2. I am overwhelmed by what God thinks is little.

3. I am overwhelmed by God’s desire to stretch me;

so that I am working not by my own strength, but

from the strength that comes from my own dependency

upon Him alone.

Hebrews 12:10

Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.

Revelation 3:8

I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

If we are faithful with little,

God will give us more.

God wants us to bless us with…

His Glory ∙ devotion that comes from Him (41:33; 1 Pet. 5:6).
