Faith

Faith is a word often used in the church but what does it really mean?

Faith has a two fold sense in the Bible. On the one hand it means “trust” “reliance” and on the other hand “fidelity” “trustworthiness”.

Romans 3:22 -24 This is righteousness given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, an all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (TNIV)

Everywhere Christ offered himself as the object of faith and made it plain that faith in him is necessary for eternal life.

Faith is trust in the person of Jesus Christ, the truth of his teaching and the redemptive work he accomplished at Calvary.

The purpose of faith is to

1. Gain understanding and to grow in truth

2. Grow in the grace of God

3. Help us rejoice through our sorrows

4. Help us be transformed into the image of Christ

5. Produce good works that glorify God

6. Help us to reach out to a lost and dying world with the offer of salvation

Matthew 17:19-21 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. (TNIV)

Little faith is not so much the quantity of faith as it is the quality.

Prayer is the key to unlocking amazing faith. Faith without prayer is powerless. You have got to claim it, believe it have faith and wrap it up in prayer.

Faith bathed in prayer can…..

1. move the mountain in your life

2. Change the direction of your life.

3. Empower you to be victorious

4. Make you a strong and mighty follower of Christ

5. Change your life for the better

6. Put your faith into action

7. Put your faith in aliment with Christ

You may start with the faith as the mustard seed but with prayer you will see your faith grow and continue to grow larger and larger and you will trust God in more and more areas of you life.

Faith is given to us as a tool for our journey of life. The more we use it the better we become at living by it. Our faith is the enabler in our Christian walk.

When we believe Christ for the small things and see them take care of it will help us to move up to the bigger things in life. As we bath our faith in prayer and as we see Christ growing us strong in our faith we will be come amazed at the things God has in store for us here on the world we call home.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (TNIV)

When we place our faith in Christ we can be sure of what we hope for even though the process to obtaining it may not be seen or clear. We can know by our faith in Christ that even though it seems impossible that God has a way. Our God is in the can do the impossible business.
