Summary: Faith that trusts God for a way out does not rely on what is visible or logical. It clings to God’s promises, obeys His instructions, and stands firm even when all odds are against you. Such faith believes that with God, there is always a way—even when the road is blocked and the options are gone.

FAITH THAT TRUSTS GOD FOR A WAY OUT

INTRODUCTION:

Faith is not truly tested until one finds themselves in a situation with no visible escape route. When we talk about trusting God for a way out, we speak of moments when logic fails, human support disappears, and all you have left is your belief in God. In these moments, the kind of faith that honours God is the one that holds on even when the way forward is unclear.

Israel’s deliverance at the Red Sea is a powerful demonstration of what it means to trust God for a way out. Surrounded by the Red Sea in front and Pharaoh’s army behind, the people of God appeared trapped. Yet, God made a way through the sea. This tells us that even in hopeless situations, God can create a supernatural path.

This message calls us to develop a resilient, unwavering trust in God’s ability to deliver. True faith says, “I don’t know how, but I know God will make a way.” It is this kind of faith that moves mountains and opens the impossible paths.

1. FAITH SEES BEYOND OBSTACLES

a) Faith is not intimidated by circumstances (Exodus 14:10-12)

The Israelites were terrified, but Moses reminded them to stand firm. Faith focuses on God's promises, not present threats.

b) Faith expects God’s intervention (Isaiah 43:2)

Even when you pass through the waters, God promises to be with you. Faith trusts that He won’t abandon His people.

c) Faith believes even before the answer appears (Hebrews 11:1)

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. It sees the outcome before it happens.

d) Faith refuses to retreat in fear (2 Timothy 1:7)

God has not given us a spirit of fear. Faith presses forward when the natural response is to give up.

Biblical Example: Joshua and the Israelites trusted God to bring down the walls of Jericho, even though they only had instructions to walk around the city (Joshua 6:1-20).

2. FAITH OBEYS DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS

a) God’s ways may defy logic (Exodus 14:15-16)

God told Moses to stretch out his rod over the sea. Faith obeys even when the instruction seems foolish.

b) Faith acts on God’s Word (James 2:17)

Faith without works is dead. When God speaks, faith responds with obedience.

c) Obedience triggers the miraculous (John 2:5-8)

As the servants obeyed Jesus at the wedding, water turned into wine. Faith produces results through obedience.

d) Delayed obedience can be dangerous (Genesis 19:15-17)

Lot's family was warned to flee quickly. Hesitation almost cost them everything.

Biblical Example: Naaman was healed of leprosy because he obeyed the prophet's command to wash in the Jordan River, even though he initially resisted (2 Kings 5:9-14).

3. FAITH TRUSTS GOD IN THE MIDST OF DELAY

a) Delay is not denial (Habakkuk 2:3)

God's promises may take time, but they will surely come to pass. Faith waits with confidence.

b) Waiting strengthens character (Romans 5:3-4)

Patience produces endurance, and endurance builds strong character.

c) God is working behind the scenes (Psalm 121:4)

He never sleeps nor slumbers. Even in silence, God is active.

d) Trust God’s perfect timing (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

He makes everything beautiful in its time, not your time.

Biblical Example: Abraham waited 25 years for Isaac, trusting in the faithfulness of God despite his old age (Genesis 21:1-5).

4. FAITH DECLARES VICTORY BEFORE IT IS SEEN

a) Speak life in the face of death (Proverbs 18:21)

Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Faith-filled speech brings breakthrough.

b) Declare what God has said, not what you see (2 Corinthians 4:18)

We walk by faith, not by sight. What we see is temporary, but God’s Word is eternal.

c) Praise God in advance (Acts 16:25-26)

Paul and Silas praised God in prison before their chains fell off.

d) Bold confession provokes divine action (Mark 11:23)

If you say to the mountain, "Be removed," and believe it, it will obey.

Biblical Example: David declared victory over Goliath before the battle began, saying, “The battle is the Lord’s” (1 Samuel 17:45-47).

5. FAITH EXPERIENCES GOD’S WAY OUT

a) God specialises in making a way where there is none (Isaiah 43:19)

He makes a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

b) No situation is beyond God’s ability (Luke 1:37)

With God, nothing shall be impossible.

c) Trusting God leads to supernatural deliverance (2 Corinthians 1:9-10)

He delivered us in the past, He will deliver again.

d) Faith brings glory to God (John 11:40)

When you believe, you will see the glory of God.

Biblical Example: The Red Sea parted when Moses obeyed in faith, and Israel walked through on dry ground while their enemies were destroyed (Exodus 14:21-28).
