Summary: If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you

We live in an age of profound spiritual confusion. All around us, the world is preaching a new gospel—not from the pulpits of faithful churches, but from YouTube channels, TikTok influencers, and best-selling books. This gospel says, “You create your own reality.” It says, “Your thoughts shape the universe.” It tells us to manifest wealth, health, success, and even relationships by the sheer force of our belief.

Now, let me say clearly—this is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

But here’s what makes it dangerous: it borrows just enough truth to sound holy. After all, doesn’t Jesus Himself say, “If you have faith… you can move mountains”?

Yes, He does. But if we’re going to understand that promise rightly, we must remember this: Faith does not create reality. God does.

I. Faith Is Trust, Not Magic

Faith is not a magical force. It is not “spiritual electricity” that we charge up through good vibes and positive thinking.

Faith is trust—a deep, surrendering, obedient trust in the living God.

Hebrews 11:1 tells us:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Faith is not wishful thinking. It is a confident expectation based on the character and promises of God.

To use biblical faith is not to command reality—it is to submit to reality as God defines it and then to walk in step with His will.

II. Modern Errors: Faith in the Self

Much of today’s spiritual confusion comes from faith misplaced.

Instead of faith in God, we are told to have faith in ourselves:

"You are the creator of your destiny."

"The universe will give you what you believe."

"Your vibration shapes reality."

Friends, this is not biblical. It is self-deification, not discipleship.

In Genesis 3, the serpent told Eve, “You shall be as gods.” That’s the same lie being repackaged today. And like Eve, many are still reaching for forbidden fruit while calling it “enlightenment.”

III. True Faith Aligns with the Creator

So what does Jesus mean when He says, “If you have faith… you can move mountains”?

He means this: When your heart is in full submission to the will of God, when your life is aligned with His purposes, when you walk in obedience and dependence on Him, then yes—great things happen. Mountains move. Doors open. Miracles come.

But it is not because you created them. It is because God works through surrendered vessels.

Think of Mary, the mother of our Lord. Her words were not “I will manifest the Messiah,” but “Be it unto me according to thy word.” That is the posture of true faith.

IV. Faith as Participation in the Logos

John tells us that “In the beginning was the Word (the Logos)… and through Him all things were made.”

Jesus Christ is the divine order behind creation. To have faith in Him is to align ourselves with the very structure and flow of the universe.

When you walk by faith, you are not bending the universe to your will—you are walking in tune with the will of the One who made it.

It is like a boat lifting its sails to catch the wind. The wind moves it—but only when the sail is raised in trust and obedience.

V. The Power of Even Small Faith

Jesus does not say, “If you have faith the size of a mountain.”

He says, “If you have faith as a mustard seed…”

That’s a very small thing. Why?

Because it’s not the amount of faith that moves the mountain—it is the object of faith. And if your faith, however small, is placed in the Almighty God, then even the impossible becomes possible.

VI. Final Warning and Encouragement

Do not fall for spiritual counterfeits.

Faith is not a tool to make your dreams come true. It is a holy surrender to the God who is weaving all things together for His glory and for your ultimate good.

So lift your eyes higher than the self. Do not worship your mind or your will. Do not chase false power.

Instead, place your faith—your small, mustard-seed faith—in the hands of the One who said, *“Let there be light.”*

Yes, faith can move mountains. But not because you believe in your own power.

-Mountains move when the people of God believe in the power of God.-

And that kind of faith doesn’t just change your circumstances—it changes you.

So ask yourself:

Is my faith aimed at glorifying God—or manipulating the world?

Am I asking God to move mountains for His purposes—or for my convenience?

Let us be a people of true faith, not spiritual self-help.

Let us trust the God who speaks, and it is so.

And let us walk by faith—humble, obedient, expectant—knowing that with Him, **nothing shall be impossible.**

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
