Failure Doesn't Have To Be Final

Galatians 6:9.

Let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.

Now we all get weary at times but must not let weariness overcome us. Many times we give up just as due season is about to manifest.

Paul is saying, "Let us not lose heart."

Every time we give up it becomes easier to do the next time. It can turn into a pattern in your life and create a cycle of defeat. We form a habit of expecting defeat instead of victory.

How do we combat weariness?

II Corinthians 4:18. While we look not at things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal but the things which are not seen are eternal.

One step in overcoming weariness is to get our eyes off the things which are; off of the natural realm, and get a vision of the eternal. Set your heart on the victory the world can’t see.

Don’t expect the world to get excited when you tell them you are believing God for your help. They are blind and cannot see afar off. They will try to bring your heart back to the natural realm, and tell you there is no way.

We all become weary at times. We get exhausted. Most of us have failed at times, but failure doesn’t have to be final.

Let’s go to 2 Samuel 21:15. Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel, and David went down and his servants with him and fought against the Philistines and David waxed faint.

The Philistines in the old Bible are a type and symbol of the forces that oppose God and God’s people.

How many times has David defeated the Philistines, but here they are again in his face.

Just because you won a victory over Satan last week doesn’t mean you can take a spiritual vacation this week.

Sometimes we stand our ground and believe God for a breakthrough and we feed on the Word and having done all to stand we stand, and one day victory comes, and we are so happy. We throw our Bible in the back seat of our car, get off our prayer life, and go on a spiritual holiday. Before you know it, we are suddenly in trouble again.

Weariness is not overcome by taking a spiritual holiday.

We are reading about David in 2 Samuel 21:15. Look at verse 18. And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob. Now look at verse 19. And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines. Now look at verse 20. And there was yet a battle in Gath.

The battles didn’t stop because David waxed faint.

Satan is not going to let up because you get weary. He won’t wait until you feel better then attack.

If we are to have victory we must overcome weariness.

1. Set our eyes on the prize.

2. In 2 Samuel chapter 22, David had a song in the night. He began to sing unto the Lord. He reminded himself of where his strength came from. He said, "The Lord is my Rock and my Fortress, my Deliverer.

3. He recalled the times the Lord had helped him before. Back in the 30th chapter of I Samuel, we read of a time when all seemed lost for David. His family and the families of his men were carried away captive. His men were ready to stone him, but in verse 6 of that chapter, David encouraged himself in the Lord. He didn’t let the grief and weariness overcome him and he got up and went to battle. Verse 18 of that chapter says that David recovered all. Verse 19 says there was nothing lacking to them neither small or great. David recovered all.

There were times in David’s life when he became weary. He was spiritually weary.

Does anyone know what I am talking about? Having done all to stand, you can’t stand much more.

Resting your flesh won’t regain the strength you need. It is the rest of God, the spiritual strengthening that you are in need of.

Jesus said, "Come unto all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."

Don’t let the loss of a battle cost you the war. Failure doesn’t have to be final.

Ephesians 3:16. That he would grant you according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.

II Timothy 4:17. Paul wrote, "Not withstanding, the Lord stood with and strengthened me, that by me the preaching might be fully known and that all the gentiles might hear, and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
