Summary: Apostle Peter opens his first epistle with an overview of some glorious facts concerning our salvation.

1. The PROOFS of our salvation

*verse 3, (we are saved because of the GRACE and the GREAT mercy of God the Father)

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

2. The PERMANENCE of our salvation

*verse 4, (it's an INHERITANCE that can never perish, INTENDED for us in heaven)

"And into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you."

3. The PROTECTION to our salvation

*verse 5, (our SALVATION is SHIELDED by God's power until it is fully revealed)

"Who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time."

4. The PROMISE of satisfaction.

*verse 6, (joy can be ours even in the midst of TEMPORARY sufferings and TRIALS)

"In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials."

5. The PRODUCTS of sufferings

Note: The sufferings we are experiencing will produce a twofold fruit.

a. The INCREASE of our faith in God

*verse 7, (our faith which is GREATER worth than GOLD when refined by fire)

"These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed."

b. The INTIMACY of our love for God

*verse 8, (our love for Him will bring into our hearts an INEXHAUSTIBLE and "INEXPESSIBLE glorious joy)

"Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy."

6. The PRIZE for our faith

*verse 9, (we already received the FRUIT of our FAITH, our souls' salvation)

"For you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls."

Conclusion: The ASSURANCE of our salvation and the ABUNDANT joy it brings will help us to endure ALL kinds of trials we have in this life. Be SATISFIED with your SALVATION.
