Message Point: If we have truly met Jesus, we are truly changed. If there is no change, there is a good probability that there has been no salvation.
Focus Passage: Ephesians 4:25-32
Introduction: Examples of changed lives: Zaccheus, the demon filled man, the woman at the well, Lazarus, woman with the hemorrhage, widow who had her son raised, numerous lame men, numerous blind men, numerous leprous men. The Disciples lives were all changed by Jesus. Change isn’t just on the outside, eg healing; it is also on the inside. The woman caught in adultery was told to “go and sin no more.”
I. Death to Life
a. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:22 NASB)
b. For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; (1 Peter 3:18 NASB)
c. For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:19 NASB)
II. Character*
a. from lying lips to a truthful tongue
b. from wrath to righteous anger
c. from stealing to sharing
d. from destructive to constructive words
e. from malicious vices to the Master’s virtues
III. Desires
a. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16 NASB)
b. Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalms 37:4 NASB)
Application/Invitation: Have you truly experienced extraordinary change in your life? Have you changed but have fallen in to the old sinful ways? Now is the time to make things right with God. If you’ve never trusted Jesus, there is no reason to leave this room today without calling on Him for salvation. If you have fallen into sinful ways, now is the time to repent and resume walking with the Lord.
