Experiencing Supernatural Peace, Protection and Provision

Study Text: Isaiah 54: 10 - 17.

Introduction:

- Because of God’s great love for us, He has made a covenant with us to take care of us: to bless us, protect us, and provide for us.

-. Covenants are never one-sided. They require the active participation of both parties in order to be in force. The Bible says that God has never ever broken a covenant. That means that it has always been man who broke the covenant.

- Because He loves us, He has compassion on us. He promised that if we will just turn to him and not away from Him that, no matter what happens, His love and kindness will never depart from us, neither shall His covenant of peace and completeness be removed.

- Peace is the universal craving of all humans; people want to be at peace within themselves and at peace with their world.

- From the world view, Peace is freedom from anxiety or distress; it is the state of tranquility.

- However, from the word view, Peace is the stability of heart and mind in the midst of confrontations or adversities.

- Peace is the state of calmness and restfulness in the midst of pressures or ‘urgencies’.

- Peace is the state of quiet assurance and confidence under all circumstances (Isa. 32:17; 2Thess. 3:16).

-. We shall be discussing the topic under three subheadings:

1. The Significance of the Peace of God.

2. The Scriptural Basis for the Peace of God.

3. The Salient Requirements for the Peace of God.

1. The Significance of the Peace of God

1. The Peace of God is needed to withstand and overcome the regular pressures and troubles of this world (John 16:33).

2. The Peace of God is needed to prevent untimely death.

3. The Peace of God is needed to confront and conquer sudden storms that may arise in your journey of life Mark 4:35-39.

- The storms of life, at times, arise without warning, and they come to put pressure on your content.

4. The Peace of God is needed for the workings of God to manifest in us.

-. When man goes to rest, God goes to work (Gen. 2:21-22; Acts 12:6-8; Exo. 14:13; 2Chron. 20:17)

5. The Peace of God attracts instruction, revelation and direction from God (Ps. 46:10; Num. 9:8; Isa. 55:12).

- There is knowledge in stillness; there is something to know when you are at peace

If you need to be led, you are led with peace (Isa. 55:12).

6. The Peace of God is the fountain for true joy (Prov. 12:20; Rom. 15:13).

- You cannot have joy if you lack peace. It is impossible to be excited when you are worried; it is impossible to be happy when you are anxious; it is impossible to have joy when everything that concerns you is upside down.

2. The Scriptural Basis for the Peace of God.

1. God is the God of peace

He is the Owner, the Custodian, and the Author of peace (Rom. 15:33; Rom. 16:20, 1Cor. 14:33, 1Thess. 5:23, Heb. 13:20-21).

- It is not possible to have true peace without knowing the God of Peace.

2. Peace is a blessing and provision of God for His people (Ps. 29:11; Isa. 26:12; Rom. 14:17).

- It is God’s Will to bless His people with peace (Ps. 29:11)

3. Peace is an ordination for God’s people (Isa. 26:12)

4. The Kingdom of God is a kingdom of Peace, Joy and Righteousness.

5. The Covenant of Peace connects God’s people to the peace of God (Isa. 54:10; Ezek. 34:25-26; 37:26; Mal. 2:4-5; 1Pet. 2:9).

- Peace is a Covenant of God with His people.

6. Jesus, our Saviour is called the Prince of Peace.

- Our association with Him connect us with the peace of God. Isaiah 9:6

7. The Chastisement of our Peace is on Him.

-. He deliberately suffered and made payment for our peace.

3. The Salient Requirements for our Peace

1. Justification by faith (Rom. 5:1, Isa. 53:5, Luke 1:76,79, 2:14, Eph. 2:14-16, Isa. 9:6).

- Being born again is the entry point into the peace of God.

- Jesus was beaten so that you might have peace, so when you receive Christ, you have received peace.

2. Walking in righteousness and the fear of God (Ps. 37:37, 85:10, Isa. 32:17, 59:7-8, Mal. 2:4-7, Rom. 3:13-18).

- It is not possible for righteousness to be available and peace does not run towards it. If righteousness has worked on you, the end of it is peace.

- Those who run in the way of evil or iniquity will never know the way of peace.

- Where there is no fear of God, the way of peace can never be known. Jesus came to guide our feet into the way of righteousness through His words.
