This sermon encourages us to maintain unwavering hope in God's promises, recognize His unseen beauty, and hold onto our expectations even in times of adversity.

Introduction

Good morning, dear friends. It's a joy to gather together, to share in the warmth of fellowship and the light of God's Word. We are, each one of us, like travelers on a road, not always certain of the destination, but confident in the One who guides us. It's a road that stretches out before us, inviting us to take the next step, to move forward in faith, even when the way ahead seems uncertain.

We're turning today to the book of Isaiah, specifically to Isaiah 64:1-4. The prophet Isaiah, a man who walked closely with God, penned these words over 2,700 years ago. Yet, they hold a timeless truth that speaks directly into our lives today.

The Scripture reads, "Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you! As when fire sets twigs ablaze and causes water to boil, come down to make your name known to your enemies and cause the nations to quake before you! For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you. Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him."

In these verses, we see a deep longing for God's presence, a yearning for His divine intervention, and a recognition of His unmatched power. We see a hope that is unwavering, a faith that is unyielding, and a love that is unending. This is our focus today: Hope in the Promises, Heralding the Unseen Beauty, and Holding onto Expectations.

Hope in the Promises

When we look at the world around us, it's easy to become overwhelmed. We see pain, suffering, and injustice. We see brokenness and despair. But in the midst of all this, we have a promise. A promise that is not dependent on our circumstances or our feelings. A promise that is grounded in the unchanging character of God.

This promise is one of hope. Not a fleeting, temporary hope, but a deep, enduring hope that anchors our souls. It's a hope that doesn't disappoint, because it's rooted in the love of God that has been poured out into our hearts. It's a hope that sustains us, even in the darkest of times.

This hope is a concrete, tangible reality grounded in the promises of God. Promises that are reliable, trustworthy, and unchanging.

When we look at the promises of God, we see a pattern. We see a God who is faithful, who keeps His word, who does not change. He is in fact so trustworthy that w can place our entire life and eternity in His hands and know he has us. This is the God who has given us His promises.

These promises are for eternity. They are promises of a future hope, glory, and home. They are promises of a time when there will be no more pain, no more suffering, no more tears.

How incredible is this hope that we have in God’s promises? Ya know, this is so freeing when we consider the kind of self-centered culture that we live in. It’s not based on feelings, but upon the very character of God!

Heralding the Unseen Beauty
