This sermon explores how to embrace God's promise of an abundant life through belief, faith, and meeting divine expectations.

Introduction

Welcome, dear friends. We gather here today, not by accident, but by divine appointment. We are here to step into the abundant life God has promised us, a life that is not just about mere existence, but about thriving, about overflowing with God's goodness and grace.

Our guide for today's sermon is found in the book of John, chapter 10, verse 10. It reads, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

Isn't it comforting to know that our Lord Jesus Christ came so that we could have life to the full? Not a life of scarcity, not a life of just getting by, but a life of abundance. He doesn't just want us to survive, He wants us to thrive. He doesn't just want us to exist, He wants us to flourish.

Charles Spurgeon, the Prince of Preachers, once said, "God does not need your strength: he has more than enough power of his own. He asks for your weakness: he has none of that himself, and he is longing, therefore, to take your weakness, and use it as the instrument in his own mighty hand. Will you not yield your weakness to him, and receive his strength?"

Isn't that a powerful thought? That God desires not our strength, but our weakness. That in our weakness, His strength is made perfect. That in our lack, His abundance is made evident.

Today, we will look at three main points. First, we will talk about believing in God's abundance. Second, we will discuss how a bountiful life is possible through faith. And third, we will discover how we can become more through God's expectations.

But before we do, let us pray. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. We thank You for the promise of an abundant life. We ask that You open our hearts and minds to receive Your Word today. May we not just hear it, but may we also apply it in our lives. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

So, let us begin, dear friends. Let us open our hearts and minds to the promise of an abundant life. Let us believe in God's abundance, let us live a bountiful life through faith, and let us become more through God's expectations.

Believing in God's Abundance

The abundance of God is a profound truth that we often overlook. It's easy to get caught up in the worries and anxieties of life, to focus on what we lack rather than what we have. But when we shift our focus from our lack to God's abundance, we begin to see the world in a different light. We begin to see the world not as a place of scarcity, but as a place of abundance.

God's abundance is not so much focused on material wealth, but also peace, joy, love, grace, mercy, and all the other spiritual blessings that He freely gives to those who believe in Him. It's about the assurance that no matter what happens, God is always with us, always for us, and always more than enough for us.

God's abundance is also about His power. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to us. The same power that parted the Red Sea, that brought down the walls of Jericho, that fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fish, is available to us. We have access to this power not because of who we are, but because of who God is.

God's abundance also includes His provision. He is our Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. He provides for our needs, not according to our lack, but according to His riches in glory. He is not a God of leftovers, but a God of overflow. He doesn't just give us enough to get by, He gives us more than enough.

God's abundance is about His promises. He is a promise-keeping God. His promises are not based on our performance, but on His character. He is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change His mind. What He has promised, He will do.

God's abundance also includes His love. His love for us is so great that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. His love is not based on our worthiness, but on His grace. His love is not conditional, but unconditional. His love is not limited, but limitless.

Transition. Believing in God's abundance is not just about acknowledging these truths, but about living in the reality of these truths. It's about trusting in God's abundance even when we can't see it. It's about relying on God's abundance even when we don't feel it. We should be declaring God's abundance while remembering that we don’t deserve it! That’s what makes it so sweet!
