"Why should you help the wicked"
Exodus 23:1 (New International Version)
"Do not spread false reports. Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness.
Isaiah 31:2 (New International Version)
Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster; he does not take back his words. He will rise up against the house of the wicked, against those who help evildoers.
Acts 2:23 (New International Version)
This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.
B. Loving or making alliances with those who hate the LORD
Psalms 1:1 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
Exodus 34:12 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
“Be very careful never to make a treaty with the people who live in the land where you are going. If you do, you will follow their evil ways and be trapped.
2 Corinthians 6:14 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?
1 Corinthians 5:11 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people.
C. The LORD's wrath was upon him
Proverbs 4:14 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
Don’t do as the wicked do, and don’t follow the path of evildoers.
Proverbs 24:1 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
Don’t envy evil people or desire their company.
1 Corinthians 5:9 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
When I wrote to you before, I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin.
2 Chronicles 17:5 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
So the Lord established Jehoshaphat’s control over the kingdom of Judah. All the people of Judah brought gifts to Jehoshaphat, so he became very wealthy and highly esteemed.
2 Chronicles 18:1 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
Jehoshaphat enjoyed great riches and high esteem, and he made an alliance with Ahab of Israel by having his son marry Ahab’s daughter.
Back in 2 Chronicles 17:5 King Jehoshaphat was already successful because GOD was with Him and he was GOD-conscious or Grace-conscious, namely: (1) the LORD have established his control over the kingdom, (2) All Judah's people brought gifts to him, (3) He became very wealthy, (4) he was highly esteemed. But when his riches and high esteem got a hold of him, his focus to GOD became self-centered and his focus from GOD to him was evident, that's the time he fell from grace by doing what he wants his ways, his human effort thus marrying an unbeliever.
IX. CONCLUSION:
2 Corinthians 6:14 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?
