Every Decision And Action Has Consequences

Every decision you make in life has consequences, and so does every action you take. Actions are a product of decisions. 

The inevitability of consequences is one truth that many people do not acknowledge in life. You can’t escape the consequences, good or bad, positive or negative. They may not be immediate, but they shall surely come.

What many people are going through today are actually consequences of their past decisions and actions.

Wise people consider the consequences before they make decisions and act. They know they are responsible for their decisions and actions.

You can’t blame another person for the consequences of your decisions and actions. You’ll live with the consequences.

Ezekiel 18:20 says, “The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself” (New King James Version). 

This scripture is talking about consequences and responsibility. Everybody will be responsible for the consequences of his decisions and actions.

If you decide to say something, you will live with the consequences of what you say. “You will have to live with the consequences of everything you say.

What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words” (Proverbs 18:20-21 Today’s English Version). 

The Living Bible puts verse 21 this way: “Those who love to talk will suffer the consequences. Men have died for saying the wrong thing!” Be careful!

Every sin has consequences. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit. They didn’t escape the consequences. They died spiritually as God had said.

They were also ejected from the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). 

The devil never told Eve these consequences when he was deceiving her. The human race fell because of the sin of Adam and Eve.

When David committed adultery with Bathsheba, it had consequences. Although God forgave him after admitting he had sinned, it didn’t free him from the consequences. The sword never departed from his house for despising God and taking the wife of Uriah the Hittite, one of his mighty men 

(2 Samuel 12:10; 23:39).

10 So your family will never have peace! When you took Uriah’s wife, you showed that you did not respect me.’

When Amnon, the first son of David, raped his half-sister, Tamar, he did not realize that it would have consequences.

Absalom, Tamar’s full brother, avenged this immorality of Amnon later by killing him (2 Samuel 13).  (Generational Curse moving....)

Though Absalom’s action was condemnable, what Amnon reaped was the consequence of his action. 

Galatians  6:7 says you shouldn’t be deceived; whatever you sow, that’s what you’ll reap. 

If you plant the wind, you’ll harvest the whirlwind  (Hosea 8:7). 

As regards Jerusalem, Lamentation 1:9 says, “Her uncleanness is in her skirts; she did not consider her destiny; therefore her collapse was awesome; she had no comforter. ‘O LORD, behold my affliction, for the enemy is exalted!’” (New King James Version).

Don’t be deceived. Don’t be emotional in decision-making. Emotions are fleeting (lasting for a very short time);

they change quickly; they could be deceptive. But you’ll live with the consequences of your decisions and actions.

👉🏻Extra-marital (relationships that happen outside of a marriage, between two people who aren't married to each other. ) relationships have consequences.

👉🏻Truancy (truwency) (the action of staying away from school without good reason; absenteeism.)

in school has consequences.

👉🏻Squandering (waste) one’s money has consequences.

👉🏻Hanging out with the wrong people has consequences.

👉🏻Drug abuse has consequences.

👉🏻Disobedience to the Word of God has consequences.

God spoke through the Prophet Zechariah to the Israelites after the return of the exiles to Jerusalem, “Through my servants the prophets I gave your ancestors commands and warnings, but they disregarded them and suffered the consequences. Then they repented and acknowledged that I, the Lord Almighty, had punished them as they deserved and as I had determined to do” (Zechariah 1:6 Today’s English Version). Note the phrase “suffered the consequences.” Every decision and action has consequences.

Heaven is a choice; hell is a choice.

Accepting Jesus is a choice; rejecting Him is also a choice. You’ll live with the consequences of your decision. Always think about the consequences of your decisions (choices) and actions.

TAKE ACTION!

If you are not born again, you need to give your life to Jesus now. I urge you to take the following steps:

👉🏻*Admit that you are a sinner and you cannot save yourself and repent of your sins.

👉🏻*Confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.

👉🏻*Renounce your past way of life – your relationship with the devil and his works.

👉🏻*Invite Jesus into your life.

👉🏻*As a mark of seriousness to mature in the faith, start attending a Bible-believing and Bible-teaching church. There they will teach you how to grow in the Kingdom of God.
