Summary: What happens when we are to busy to talk to God or let Him talk to us?
Ever tell God to "SHUT UP"?
1 Sam 3:8-10
I don't like the words "Shut Up" never have, but over and over more and more people are telling God they have heard enough, they don't want to hear anymore, they are telling God to shut up.
Actions speak louder than words.
In essence we tell God to shut up when
I. We won't let Him speak to us thru His Word.
John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal
life: and they are they which testify of me.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that
they received the word with all readiness of mind, and
searched the scriptures daily,
Ps 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin
against thee.
Ps 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he
meditate day and night.
Ps 119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Ps 119:113 I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.
Ps 119:167 My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them
exceedingly.168 I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies:
for all my ways are before thee.
Deut 17:19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the
days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to
keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:20
That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he
turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to
the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his
kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
II. We won't let Him speak to us thru Prayer
1 Thess 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men
ought always to pray, and not to faint
Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always
Rom 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant
in prayer;
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
Col 4:2 Continue in prayer,
III. We won't let Him speak to us thru the Spirit
Jonah1:3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the
presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he
found a ship going to Tarshish:
1 Cor 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the
spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God
knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.12 Now we have
received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is
of God; that we might know the things that are freely given
to us of God.
