An exploration into the transformative power and challenges that come when God's presence uplifts us.

Introduction

Today, I want to share with you a powerful message on the theme of "Embracing the Power of God's Presence" using Psalms 68:1-3 as our scripture text. My prayer is that by the end of this sermon, our hearts will be ignited with a deep desire to experience the transformative power that comes when God arises in our midst.

Point 1: Letting God Arise

In the past, the phrase "Let God Arise" was often accompanied by a popular scripture chorus that resonated with many believers. It became a rallying cry during the Charismatic Holy Spirit renewal of the 70s and 80s, as the church boldly confronted the forces of darkness and experienced remarkable spiritual victories. During that time, we learned that when we let God arise, amazing things happen. We broke free from religious routines and allowed God to move in His own unique ways, resulting in a fresh outpouring of His Spirit and the growth of His Kingdom.

Point 2: Embracing God's Variety

God is not confined to our human expectations or habits. He operates outside of our comfort zones and doesn't always manifest His power in the same way. Just as Jesus healed blind people using different methods, God's ways are diverse yet effective. We must avoid falling into the trap of religious routines and instead embrace the variety of ways in which God chooses to work in our lives and in the church.

Point 3: The Cry for Change

The phrase "Let God Arise" originated with Moses during the wilderness journey of the Israelites. When Moses cried out for God to arise, it signaled a call for change and forward progress. The Israelites had to follow the leading of the Cloud of Glory, even if it meant leaving behind their comfortable campsites. Change can be unsettling and challenging, but remaining in a spiritual rut is ultimately unsatisfying. We must be willing to move with God, trusting that He is leading us into new territories of spiritual growth and encounter.

Point 4: Learning from Past Experiences

Just as the Israelites carried their learnings from previous campsites, we too must retain the valuable lessons and experiences from our spiritual journey. Each new encounter with God builds upon the foundation of our past encounters. However, as we move forward, we will encounter both familiar and unfamiliar aspects. It is through these challenges that we grow and deepen our relationship with God.

Conclusion

To experience a fresh move of God, we must be willing to embrace His power and presence. We must let God arise in our lives and in our churches, relinquishing our desire for comfort and routine. God's nature is to rise up and lead us into new territories of spiritual growth. When we wholeheartedly embrace His presence, we will walk in His provision, protection, power, and purpose.

In closing, let us commit ourselves to continually seek God's presence and be open to His leading. May we always be willing to let God arise in our midst, knowing that in doing so, we will experience the transformative power of His presence in our lives.
