Today, I want to share a message with you that emphasizes the importance of your role in the church. You are not just the future of the church; you are the present! Don't wait until you're adults to make a difference for the Kingdom of God. Start now!
Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 (NIV)
"9 You who are young, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. 10 So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless."
The book of Ecclesiastes, written by King Solomon, offers some interesting insights. Solomon, known for his wisdom, reflects on life and its meaning. He concludes that everything is meaningless. However, we should pay attention to his words because he was a wise man.
Solomon's life was not without flaws. Despite being blessed by God, he made mistakes. He had many wives and allowed their influence to lead him astray. He became more concerned with acquiring wealth and power than seeking God's face. Yet, he built the first permanent Temple, known as Solomon's Temple.
As Solomon grew older, he began to realize what truly mattered. He became a philosopher and wrote books expressing his views. One of these books is Ecclesiastes.
In Ecclesiastes 11:9-10, Solomon encourages young people to enjoy their youth and find joy in it. He advises them to follow their hearts and pursue what they see. However, he also reminds them that God will judge all their actions. Therefore, they should not let anxiety consume them but cast off their troubles. Solomon concludes that youth and vigor are ultimately meaningless.
Another passage that emphasizes the significance of young people is found in 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV):
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity."
This verse is part of a letter from Paul to Timothy, a young leader in the early church. Paul encourages Timothy not to let his age hinder him but to be an example to all believers. This applies to all young people as well. You have the opportunity to set an example for others in your speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
Youth is often seen as a time of transition, a period when we are preparing for the future. However, both Ecclesiastes and 1 Timothy remind us that young people have a vital role to play in the present. You are not just the future of the church; you are the present!
Don't let your youth be an excuse. Instead, embrace the calling God has placed on your life right now. Don't wait until you're older to make a difference. Start today!
Set an example for others in your speech. Be respectful and engage in meaningful conversations. Show love to everyone you encounter, just as Jesus showed love to you. Let your faith shine through your actions and be a source of encouragement to others. Strive for purity in all areas of your life, allowing Christ to cleanse you from sin.
In conclusion, remember that you are not just the future of the church; you are the present! Don't underestimate the impact you can have on others and the Kingdom of God. Start living out your faith today and be an example to those around you. Embrace the calling God has placed on your life and make a difference right now.
