Summary: When there was all reason for her to burst crackers and enjoy, yet, Elizabeth chose to sit in His presence and meditate on the glory of the miracle.
Elizabeth!
Luke 1:24 “Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months..”
I was particularly awed by the humility of Elizabeth in hushing up her pregnancy after conceiving at a pretty old age in her life. When there was all reason for her to burst crackers and enjoy, yet, Elizabeth chose to sit in His presence and meditate on the glory of the miracle. There is something more deeper here, the more you are crucified in flesh through pain, sufferings, illness, failure, rejection, long period of draught and inactivity –when the miracle actually happens, you become silent! Tongue-tied! You get to see the totality of God’s glory – nothing of you but all of HIM! Are you listening? Every boastful words would cease, pride, arrogance would be replaced by silent worship! Have you ever tasted a tiny slice of this delicacy! It changes you! Elizabeth’s barrenness had actually beautified her into a wonder woman (not super woman who fists). Today we have more of chatterboxes who tell the whole world of the fights that they have with their in-laws and husband. Fool-box opened for all to see! Can we learn some lessons from Elizabeth today please???????? Apostle Paul said: "Though our bodies are dying, our inner being is renewed everyday" (2 Corinthians 4:16)
Social networking etiquettes is paramount today, given the plethora of options available; unless you are buried under the snow, one cannot escape being bombarded by this explosion. Every minute you get an invite to join various social networks, use this wisely. Put your best foot forward on the Web – I am talking about what you post and the photograph you display! The wall is for everybody to see – watch out what you say! Your postings and photographs exhibited gives a glimpse of who you are! Your language, demeanor and vocabulary should all reflect the glory of God! Are you listening? There is no thumb rule for this sort of thing, use your wisdom and judgment. I know of husband and wives who awkwardly wash their linen in public through facebook postings. Their war is for public display! Personal and private matters should never be shared on your facebook wall.
When informed about the miraculous birth of John the Baptist, Elizabeth’s husband Zecharias said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years." Zecharias looked at what he was and his whole focus was about himself and he failed to think of God’s power. Many of us are complaining like Zecharias, “I am an old man, time is running out, I am not fit, I incompetent”! Are you there? The angel said, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings.” The angel had to actually tell Zecharias, “I’m no courier boy but my name is Gabriel and I come from the presence of God and bring you good news”!
Cut the fear and accept the good news today!
