ELEMENTS OF UNITY: ASSEMBLE YOURSELVES
4/16/07
(Psa 133:1) A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Note the word Unity
It takes U and I to make UNITY
Without I we just UN-TY everything God has put together
Without U we are just a Nity. Do you know what a Nitty is?
Nitty - egg of a louse: the egg or larva of a parasitic insect, especially a louse

It takes U and I to make UNITY!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe that is why Jesus only said two or three because that is all we can usually get together.(Mat 18:19-20)
We all have a lot of other things that we are involved in, in our lives and sometimes it takes some effort and sacrifice to get together.
? How does it make you feel when you have sacrificed and put forth effort to assemble yourself with others, and when you get to church you find no one else has?
Notice the First Church began in UNITY both spiritually and physically.(not the end of the church but the end of the church in this world)
Beginning(Act 2:1) And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
End(Eph 4:13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:
ASSEMBLE YOURSELVES
(Ecc 4:9) Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor.
(Ecc 4:10) For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to
him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
(Ecc 4:11) Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
(Ecc 4:12) And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
We need one another if we will prevail as a church. Whether we like to admit it we all need some support some time. Amen.
(Heb 10:25) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
? What is the point in assembling together?
What can we do together in church that we can not do entertained by other alternatives such as televangelism?
(Rom 12:4) For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
(Rom 12:5) So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
(Rom 12:6) Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
(1Co 14:12) Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
You see we all have a gifts, and together we form a gifted body that represents Christ, as Christ we in unity can do anything. We are a force unbeatable against the forces of evil but only in the UNITY OF CHRIST.
? Have you ever witnessed spiritual gifts produced by the UNITY of believers in Christ?
(Lev 26:8) And five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
