Joshua 1:5-9

5. No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.

6. be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.

7. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe and do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you: do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.

8. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

9. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

How many of us this morning is dressed in promise?

Are you blood bought?

Are you striving to live for Christ?

Is there an obedience factor in your life?

Once we accept Jesus as our personal Savior, we are a people dressed in promise.

We have the promise that Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us.

We have the promise that the Holy Spirit would be given to the church in Acts chapter 2:38-39.

38. Then Peter said to them, repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins: and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.

The promise of the Holy Spirit is to you and your children, to all that are afar off.

We live in the Holy Ghost dispensation; God is still pouring His Spirit upon the church today.

Dreams and visions, signs and wonders!

In our opening scripture God told Joshua, there shall not any man be able to stand before you all the days of your life: as I was with Moses so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you.

Any enemy that would come before Joshua would not be able to stand, God was telling Joshua I was with Moses, now I am with you!

God was not going to fail Joshua; He was never going to leave Him alone.

It sounds to me like Joshua was dressed in promise.

Joshua had to be strong and courageous, He had to observe and do according to all the law.

His success depended upon his obedience to the Word of God.

Do we depend upon the Word of God today?

Joshua’s success depended upon not only hearing the Word, but applying it to his life.

Do we fill successful?

Joshua success not only depended on hearing the Word but applying it to his life.

Do we fill successful?

Joshua could not turn to the right or the left, He could not say that this part looks good but I don’t like that part.

He had to be obedient to the speaking voice of God.

Joshua 1:8 says this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Israel was to talk the Word constantly; they were to think about it.

They were to train the up and coming generation about the things of God, they were to train their children in the ways of God.

They were to observe and to do all! If they did all God would make their way prosperous and they would have good success.

Verse 9 says have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage.

Go forward don’t be discouraged, God told Joshua “don’t be afraid”

God is telling us to go forward and not be discouraged, don’t be afraid!

Satan will blow and bluster, there is nothing He can do providing we continue to trust the Lord and move forward.

He’s telling us don’t be dismayed! There will be hindrances, but don’t let them side track you or slow you down.

The Lord your God is with you where ever you go, Satan is a liar who will be a fryer.

He’s already defeated.

Are you dressed for success, Are you dressed in promise?
