Summary: God's people are often in the minority opinion. Some get bad counsel and have their dreams and calling killed in the wilderness.

Numbers 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Numbers 14:6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.

10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

Be careful whom you hang out with and who you listen to for advice. Not all have your best interest in mind. The majority is not all right.

Joshua and Caleb were in the minority opinion, but they were right and because Israel believed the majority they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years and the majority that would not believe perished in that wilderness.

Numbers 14:35 I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

36 And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,

37 Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

38 But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

Someone once said that the best revenge is outliving all of your enemies. Joshua and Caleb lived to enter the land and established an inheritance for their family. They believed God and stood against the opposition and God vindicated them in a multitude of blessings.

Jeremiah was the only prophet telling the truth. Amos was not even a prophet and he was used of God to rebuke the prophets. An unnamed prophet did the same but came to an untimely death after doing his calling by listening to an old prophet who was not walking with God. Nathan had to stand against King David and that could have cost him his life. Noah was in the minority for many years and then walked off the Ark with his family now being in the majority because they were the entire human race. Jonah could have been killed standing against an entire city of pagans but prevailed because God was with him even though Jonah was not onboard with God's plan. John the Baptist stood against the majority. Jesus definitely was in the minority as He called out the Left, Right and Middle debunking many beliefs and traditions.

That doesn't mean the majority is never right so don't go hermit or Joseph Smith on me.

Proverbs 11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

I am not saying never seek counselors, but be careful who they are. Sometimes those whom seem wise are not and those who have the least esteem are correct.

If it is not supported by a proper interpretation of the Word then their counsel or your dream/calling is not of God. Make sure the voice you are hearing is not the enemy or your heart speaking in another "voice" to justify what you want even if it is wrong. Many who said, "God told me to...." have ended up in despair and then blamed God when it was not His voice or calling. Many who have said to you, "God told me to tell you" were puffed up in their own mind or listening to the enemy and will answer for speaking for God when they were not a prophet He sent.

There is much error in the world, in churches and in professed Christians. Indeed, many of us may find that many of our cherished beliefs, traditions and sentimentality were things we should have shunned as they were grievous errors and man-made doctrines.

Bottom line is try the spirits to not be lead into a wilderness of deception chasing what God has not ordained. Yet, also do not let your God ordained calling and gifts die in a desert because the majority is against you or it. God is the majority and if you get in line with what He is wanting and doing you will stand against the naysayers victoriously as they die in their wilderness. Alleluia! Maranatha!
