Summary: In Revelation, Jesus tells the Church at Philadelphia that He is opening a door for them which no one can shut. This is a door of favor, spiritual growth, and opportunity to witness. He'll open that same door for us if we desire it!

C. FOUR SYMPTOMS OF A DERAILED DESTINY

1. Number One: You are spiritually stagnant if your Christian walk hasn’t changed much. You haven’t grown. You don’t sense the flow of the Spirit like you used to, and your prayers don’t seem that effective.

a. If you’ve ever seen the Dead Sea, you know that it’s dead, it actually stinks; it’s dead all around it and dead in it. Less than 100 miles north is the Sea of Galilee. It is one of the most beautiful sights you can imagine.

b. There’s life all around it and there’s life in it. There’s only one difference between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. The Sea of Galilee has both an inlet and an outlet, but the Dead Sea only has an inlet.

c. If we want to be flowing with life, we must have both the inflow of the Spirit and the outflow of the Spirit.

2. Number Two: Your life is lived in your “comfort zone.” You’re living life only on the natural plane. You’re not attempting to step out with God in the miraculous.

a. Your potential is not been released: the gifts, skills, talents, life, and abilities God has put in you.

b. Jesus didn’t die to give you “fire in insurance”! If all He wanted to do was save you, then why did He leave you here? Because He has a redeemed destiny for you.

c. When Peter got out of the boat to walk on the water, we might say it was the boat of a stagnant experience, to walk on the waters of opportunity. God is calling us to step out of our boats and see what he will do.

d. “And without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Many Christians have lost their vision of what God can do. God wants you to get you’re your “holy optimism. If you’re a Christian, you are an optimist!

e. Psychologists placed a pessimistic boy in a room full of toys. A few minutes later they returned to find the toys scattered all over the room and the boy sitting there with a pout on his face, saying, “There’s just nothing to do!”

f. Then they placed an optimistic boy in a room that contain nothing but a large pile of horse manure. When they returned a few minutes later, the optimistic boy was digging in the middle of the pile. When they asked him why, he replied, “With this much manure, there’s got to be a pony in here somewhere!”

g. I’ve got some good news for you – God’s got a pony for you! The devil wants to steal your miracle, but God is planning a blessing for you!

3. Number Three: You haven’t seen anyone saved through your personal Ministry recently.

a. Statistics say 95% of all Christians show no fruit of spiritual reproduction.

b. Why? Because we retreat into our Christian subculture: Christian schools, TV, radio, books, churches, social groups and have little contact with non-Christians.

c. How should you minister to unbelievers? Don’t drag them to church; instead, have fun with them.

d. Ladies take your unbelieving friends to the mall shopping. Men, go hunting, fishing, golfing, and to ballgames. It’s time to break out of our sub-culture and be fruitful for God!
