Don't Look Back

Summary: Stay the course of righteousness
DON’T LOOK BACK!
Genesis 19:24 – Lot’s wife didn’t want a future with God because she missed her past sins.
Luke 17:31-33 – Jesus said “Remember Lot’s wife.” Why? As a warning to us today, we can easily look back to sins of the past if Christ isn’t in your future.
Philippians 3:7-8 – Paul said our past is like dung.
Four that looked back:
Israel (Psalm 78:41) – The ease of sin seemed more appealing than the uncertainty of following a God they could not see.
Orpah (Ruth 1:16) – She turned back because she couldn’t see God in trying times. Ruth sought the God she could not see, while Orpah went back to a cursed land.
David (I Sam.27:1) – David sought refuge with the heathens when he felt God could not protect him from Saul.
Judas (Matt.27:3-5) – Looking back at the sin he committed, rather than looking unto Christ he betrayed. He repented but not unto salvation.
Conclusion: Look towards the prize of our high calling.
