Summary: Do we judge others?
Judge Me Not!
Matthew 7:1-5-”Judge not, that you be not judged.
For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your
own eye? -
Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
When we judge we think, we know why someone did that, and what they were thinking when they done it! If you made the standard and you know the motivates, then you should be able to make the judgement
1 Peter 4:17-For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?
Matthew 7:1 5-20-”Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thombushes or figs from thistles?
Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Matthew 18:l5-17-”Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone, If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’
And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
Romans 16:17-Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doc ic which you learned, and avoid them.
Galatians 1:8-But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
We are not talking about whether we should judge or not, because the Bible is clear that there is times when we are to judge.
We are to discern between good and evil, between a good teacher or a false teacher, between those who are real and those who are fake.
There is only one law giver and you ain’t it!
Plank and splinter are both made out of the same material.
We tend to criticizes most, our own deepest weakness!
When we see it in others even if it’s just a splinters worth, it reminds us of what we are dealing with everyday.
It’s ok to judge if you are seeing clearly, when you take the plank out of your eye, you’ll be a little bit more caring, when help take the splinter out of your brother’s eye.
If I measure the fish I caught with a stick I picked up and (the standard, the law) was you could not keep the fish if it wasn’t 12 inches long and the stick I had was only 6 inches long and that is what I’m measuring the fish with that I’m keeping and then the game warden comes and they judge by the standard, by la*, (12 inches)!
How much trouble am I going to be in?
Yard Stick-I would rather misjudge them with giving them more grace and mercy than they deserve, than to be short on grace and mercy for them and then God judges me the same way.
Are you short with people?
